This week, Senbonzakura still reigns supreme, making it a bandwagon song that doesn't pale in comparison to Matryoshka and Ura Omote Lovers. This week also gives us a bit of nostalgia because there are a lot of covers of old songs, songs we have encountered when we're all new to the fandom. I hope you enjoy this one.

Also, as a very kind move, Utaran-san is trying to upload the Weekly Utattemita Ranking IN ENGLISH. That means the blurb, the intro notes as well as the data in the ranking will all be in English. This is really a plus especially to those who have a hard time watching and/or commenting in the original ranking. The English ranking will be uploaded in Nico Nico.Com and for starters, he has created a mirror of the ranking there. If you cannot comment in Japanese in the original NND video, go all out in commenting in the English site to show your comments and reactions to the ranking as well as thanks to Utaran-san, who is painstakingly trying to reach out to us foreign fans.

This week hasn't marked the end of the Senbonzakura rave, and yet we have another bandwagon song going and it's "Kagerou Days" by Jin. We might need a separate ranking for this one, too XD. Anyway, because of two songs' covers piling up everywhere, you'll notice that Utaran-san has once again used those amusing phasing where one cover blends into the next. Aside from these two songs, there are still more, including covers of buzzG's new songs, etc. so there's still more to look out for.

This week doesn't have a lot of popular utaite, but it's a good week because there are new/less popular utaite rising to the top with covers that are really worth listening to. I hope you'll get to know more people in this ranking! Also, there are tons of Workers this week, so let's say hello to them! /badpunisproofthatnikkiisdeadtiredorz

Also, my deadline weeks have started once again at work, and after writing chemistry and physics articles the whole day, my brain kind of fizzed and died. Since I'm on vacation today, I'm posting the Vocaran while we wait for Utaran :D. I looooooove this week so much because there are a lot of new, amazing releases from famous producers and new ones that have so much potential (I swear, I will stop using 'so much' so much). Because of the awesome new stuff, there are only a few left from last week's ranking, some of them pulled down as a consequence. Still, there are some surprising returns (Matryoshka, what!) and rises. I hope this week will also be an interesting listen for you guys, too, so let's get started.

This week has overloads of maji love 1000% (still?!), Kuwagata (not the P) song by UramanbouP (both versions are awesome), 40mP songs and Ano Hana theme in the pickup. We have an interesting yet limited selection this week, it should be easier to go through them. Enjoy :).

Also, if there are any errors, please forgive me. I fell asleep while writing this and I woke up just in time to stop myself from writing "Koman" instead of Marasy and "Chef" instead of Soraru (yeah, don't ask). OTL.

What to expect in this ranking: Tons of Maji Love 1000% in all forms (parody, normal, zenbu-ore, ballad, etc.). A lot of Dakishimeta Tonight covers (yay!), A couple of Clear (yaaay!!) and some utaite we haven't heard from in a long time uploading awesome covers.

This week doesn't have a lot of new stuff but there are tons of amazing ones! There is also a large part of duets and collabs, all of which are interesting. There are a lot of returners (hi Lon, Glutamine XD) and 2 songs that came back because they reached a million views. Anyway, I'm sleepy so let's get on with it. This week is full of collabs and pairings, so expect to see a lot of them filling the rankings. You might notice last week that there is a slight bandwagoning of Suki Kirai? Well, it's not dying down and you'll even see more of them next week.

Anyway, you might notice that the Weekly Utaran has changed video dimensions (it's clearer and wider now!) as well as frame designs XD. I feel bad for not mentioning last week, but the portions are now of different colors (new uploads is blue, overall ranking is purple, pickup is light blue and history is orange). Utaran-san made great efforts to customize the presentation to everyone's viewing comforts, too, with all the data collected in the sides and properly labeled. Of course, make sure you stare hard at the screen at the rank intervals because Hibiki (if you don't know who Hibiki is...he's the Utaran mascot) appears in the frames, too XD.

So, this ranking is now color-coded. The links have colors specific to the portions so as to avoid confusion. The song names are still clickable, by the way. Please tell me if it looks okay or not. If not, I'll revert to the old format!

You might notice that dreamwidth's celebrating Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, which commemorates the site's anniversary. We're very thankful to DW for giving us a place for this comm as well as giving invites so you guys can make journals so we'd like to participate in the celebration as well. Utaite Spotlight: Yurin

Yurin is a very prolific utaite, having uploaded over 50 covers despite having started just last year in January. Because he has tons of covers, his growth and development as an utaite is also apparent and it's amazing how much he had improved within just months.

Yurin's voice is thin and very boyish, which is why you might think that he prefers singing ballads and pop songs, but actually it's the opposite. Yurin seems to prefer popular rock songs a lot and he is very good at singing them. His wide vocal range gives him quite an edge and he sounds wonderful even if the song is really high. He carries each song well because of his ability to sing in both very low and very high notes. Even without the thickness of voice usually found in strong singers, he has a slight, recognizable edge of roughness in his voice that helps him give force in upbeat and rock songs. In terms of voice quality, he's like a cross between Keysuke and Amu.

His almost permanent duet partner is Kano. He has A LOT of covers, but it's obvious that he prefers songs by yukkedoluce, hachi, HoehoeP and he likes jumping popular song bandwagons, which is why his songs are often overshadowed even if he sounds amazing in them.

I actually got to know Yurin when Yukkedoluce spazz-tweeted about him covering "Reflect". Yurin's covers are very hit-or-miss for me. However, he is one of those utaite I've watched grow/improve and if you listen to his covers starting from the earliest to the recent, you can see the apparent improvement not only on his vocal range, but in the quality of his uploads, too. And I think he'll keep on improving in terms of vocal quality and popularity XD.

Note: Due to my lack of computer these past weeks (I'm merely borrowing my sister's computer and tweeting using my computer at work <-- worthless employee), I'm in a hurry to put this out. Please forgive the lack of descriptions.

There are quite a few of new stuff this week, partly because people are still trying to keep up with life over uploading covers, a few weeks after the earthquake. But as expected, we get a bandwagon song in the form of the dangerously catchy AC CM. So many covers, Utaran-san even set up a ranking just for it XD;.

We have a weak week for this ranking, with very few covers from people we know. Buuuut that means there's a lot of opportunity to know lesser known singers who sound equally amazing. You might see a lot of unfamiliar names in the lower parts, but the top parts are definitely dominated by people you see A LOT in the ranking XD;. And yes, there are more Panda Heroes.

Please do not mind my half-asleep comments. I'm tired from running around all day and my boss deprived me of a delicious Korean beef stew lunch. Yes, I am bearing a grudge because of that. Anyway, let's go to the ranking w/ my lame comments ^^;.

This ranking is late by a day because of some problems in Nico Nic Douga's system (you might notice, Vocaran is late, too). This week is pretty weak in comparison to the previous weeks. There aren't many covers and there aren't covers powerful enough to topple other songs over. Which means there are some new names and songs you might have not encountered before but are worth a look! It's just unfortunate that I'm too tired to give interesting comments so sad to say, you'll be missing my spazz this week orz. I'll double the efforts next week! Anyway-----

This week is awesome because there are many, many wonderful covers from people we all know and love. The new number one caused a lot of songs from the same singer to return to the ranking. Some of the songs I expected to stay dropped out while some I didn't expect to excel rose far above others. I'm pleasantly surprised with some, so let's get started with this week.
