Yesterday was Kagamine Rin and Len's birthday! But the Kagamine wave still hasn't reached this week's ranking (too late D:) so we'll have to wait next week for that, hopefully. However, this ranking is pretty special in a way because you get to hear awesome first songs from THREE new Vocaloids. That would be CUL, Yuzuki Yukari, and IA ~Aria on the Planetes~. I'm surprised at how wonderful they all sound, not to mention they were tuned and their songs composed by really veteran/popular producers, so I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. Aside from that, we have a few strong songs from last week as well as new stuff from popular sings (longtimenoseedoriko!) so this is pretty much a ranking that won't bore you at all. Enjoy!

This week has a lot of new stuff from popular and not-so-popular producers. This is an interesting week because some producers you don't normally see have managed to enter the ranking, so it's a great opportunity to learn about their music today.

This week's ranking has a lot of awesome old stuff from the previous week, and tons of new ones worth listening to. Our number 1's pretty strong so no one managed to topple it off the rank, but there are also a few worthy rises, some even from below rank 30.

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, please do comment on this post. Thank you!

Sorry for the delay! This was supposed to be up yesterday but I fell asleep XD;. And I decided to post it a bit late with a lot of comments instead of just listing stuff. Senbonzakura, like in the utaran, stays strong here but there are a ton of new songs which are all worth a listen!

Apologies again for a post with lame comments. Anyway, Senbonzakura is in full bloom as it rises to the top, but there are also a loooot of new songs this week from people you already know and love so be sure to check them out! Some of them includes a new brainwash song (not again D: ), some GUMI V3 initial songs and a lot of hard rock stuff.

As you might remember, I posted the midyear special ranking sometime in July, where the songs included were those uploaded from December 2009 to June 2010. This is the LATTER PART of that ranking, where the top songs from June 15 to December 14, 2010 are uploaded.

The video has 80 songs, but the mylist has 200 songs O_O;. A-anyway, I've included them all in the list. As with the previous mid-year ranking and all the other rankings which aren't weekly, this is written in reverse for more suspense :D.

Since all of them are Miku songs, I'll just type the song, composer and additional Vocaloids used if there are any :).

The last few are so predictable XD;. Anyway, I'll be doing the rest of the rankings, too (how many more to go? D: ) so please wait for them! /o/

...The tags...I...will do them later orz.

POLYPHONICBRANCH

PolyphonicBranch started uploading Vocaloid compositions in Nico Nico Douga right at the end of 2008 and since then he's been steadily uploading songs which become quite popular in the site. He also has released a few albums in Comiket and other conventions and were quite successful. He's one of these composers whose songs are hard to forget, in my opinion.

Most of the time, his songs are slightly upbeat with unforgettable intros, either they sound majestic and mystical or pop-ish and very catchy. His melodies are never similar to each other because of the differences in genre and instruments used, but all of them have this high quality, complicated feel in them. All of his works also has an anime appeal, which is kind of hard to describe unless you personally listen to his songs ^^;. Another thing which makes his songs quite hard to forget is his way of naming them, with grandiose words you only see in anime songs XD (I mean... "Dragonheart" or "Kimi ni Sasagu Fantasia", etc.). He uses a lot of instruments, depending on the song. He has songs with wonderful guitar arrangements and some ballads with magical piano melodies.

PolyphonicBranch usually uses Miku in his works, although he has also used Len, Luka and GUMI. He had some songs where Miku sounds a bit off (but not to the point of hating the song), but otherwise, his tuning is quite okay. Not as perfect as some composers, but the quality of his music makes up for it.

sample songs
Taiyo to Tsuki no Rondo (Miku x Luka)
Kimi ni Sasagu Fantasia (Len)
Boukyaku Alice (Miku)
Dragonheart (Luka)
Yumekui Nightmare (Miku)

PolyphonicBranch's works always makes me go *_* as they always sound so grandiose to the point of magical. By magical, I meant the anime-ish feel they give off. He also always seems to have difficult-to-read lyrics, mostly having deep metaphors, like for example "Taiyou to Tsuki no Rondo". The best part of listening to PolyphonicBranch's songs for me is the intro part, because they are often so varied and cool that you can somehow catch the theme of the whole songs just by the listening to them.

For a proper intro, please read the Miku ranking here. The duet/group/outsider ranking has only 95 songs, which is sad. By outsider, BTW, they mean those Vocaloids who aren't Miku, Len/Rin, KAITO, MEIKO, Luka, GUMI, Gakupo, Miki, Kiyoteru and Yuki as well as UTAU.

So far, this and the annual rankings are the only ones I type in reverse order (from 100-1) so that it'd be more exciting :). If you want me to do the midyear/annual rankings in the traditional way (the 1-xx order), just tell me :).
