Weekly Utattemita Ranking # 185 (May 14-21, 2012)

This week's ranking has a lot of "Shiwa" as well as "Setsuna Trip". But aside from those, there are new songs you might not have heard before so please check them out! Some utaite have multiple cover uploads this week, too, so you'll see double entries here and there. The Nyaruko-san fever haven't died down it seems, with parodies still around. I have comments this week but most of them are my stupid biases, so forgive me ^^;.

• overall rank: 31. It's not as impressive as most Cocolu songs I know since she kind of fails to keep the steadfast singing at the high parts. Still, this is a really difficult song to sing and she pulled it off okay.

• overall rank: 34. Wow, I haven't heard from Nitmegane in AGES and he still sounds amazing. The powerful beats in Yucha's song kind of drowns his voice a bit but he manages to resurface at the end of the choruses.

• overall rank: 38. The pitch O: It's actually quite lovely if you ask me. It's not dramatic and even though I only think of crack when I think of koma'n, his singing here is impressive.

• overall rank: 45. Title means "One-man Hide and Seek". I like how Mirin puts power in her voice at the right moments so she doesn't sound too loud or too strained. She takes good control of her pitches, too.

• overall rank: 71. Title means "Tale of Six Billion Years and One Night". I thought Syuiro sounded a bit breathless at the stanzas, but the interesting twists in the singing make up for it.

• overall rank: 72. Title means "Dream City Contrast". I really like Shoose's ballads and this is no exception. I like how his voice seems to fade at the high parts, such a nice effect.

• overall rank: 76. This is incredible XDD;. Freedel doesn't really have any weird quirks or unique style when singing but he sounds so adorable in whatever he sings, be it crack or not.

• overall rank: 84. A bit overdone at the choruses for me because of all the yelps at the end of the lines but Ahiru has an impressively powerful voice! She reminds me of some anime song singers ^^;

• I don't know much about Ib but this is so entertaining. Nacchan's always so entertaining with the drastic changes in vocals so the song is never boring, even if I didn't understand some of the lines.

02. 【蛇足】 セツナトリップ 【歌ってみた】

• Dasoku's first song in the ranking is the fast-paced Last Note song, which he rendered awesomely. For someone with a low, sultry voice, it's impressive how he adjusts to sing fast lyrics and high pitches.

03. 【蛇足×タイツォン】感傷リフレクション【かめりあ×とんかつ×LOLI.COM】

• This is an original song composed by LOLICOM, with title provided by REN.
• Quite an interesting collab here. Dasoku sounded a bit tame against the beat but his voice matches the lyrics so well ahahaha XD (seriously, snakaholic). When Tightson came up, the beat made more sense and the song begins to be interesting and loopable. I think the combination is pretty good and created both an upbeat and uhh sexytiem aura XD.

04. 忙しいから「星間飛行」と「ハレ晴れユカイ」をいっぺんに歌ってみた

• This is kind of a mashup of the two songs (since it's a rendition for busy people so). Singing aside, I am so amused at the sudden changes in rhythm. Seriously, it's crazy.

• Soraru's deep, husky voice removed the gentle, whispery details of Fuwari's song, but I appreciate the change. Soraru sings long notes beautifully and I hope he sings more ballads.

• One of my favorite Shiwa covers (Yes I am biased). It is so much simpler compared to other covers, but Kanzentaicell's voice can sing anything and make it cool and badass and...okay lemme stop ranting.
