Avex pretty consistently has 2-4 versions of a single. Bigger artists might have more, like 4-6.
But none of that could match one of the idol labels... This was many years ago, but they released (I believe) a single, and it had no fewer than 10 or 12 versions. I can't remember the group/single, but it wasn't even a wildly successful performer, so I do remember facepalming.
I really want the downloadable content because it'd be nice to have a readily available reference for cosplay reasons. I'll settle on buying the game from the store whose promo I like the best, and then buy the soundtrack; that nets me 3 bonus outfits and, for the sake of my bank account, I will be satisfied with that... Wish these were purchasable content instead of bonuses to go with the game, though.
Although, if I just go into a cave, ignore mainstream music release news, ignore game release news, ignore doujin release news... my bank account becomes very happy. Ignorance is bliss?
