Some of you might have heard of the earworm of epicness Nyan Cat and its variations, but not many of the people who got looped into Nyan Cat knew of its original version, so I decided to make a post on him even if I don't know much about him myself. Note that the Nyan Cat uses an UTAU cover of the DaniwellP original.

DaniwellP, also known as AIDN (his circle), started uploading Vocaloid songs way back into 2007 and he also respected as one of the "sempai" in the Vocaloid community. He's mostly known as a producer of highly-addictive songs as well as "godly" PVs for his compositions. He's also known to have "December strength" mostly because he uploads a lot of his works on December months of 2007-2010.

DaniwellP's genre is electropop bordering on chiptune, or what sounds like those old school game music. He is quite flexible in terms of tempo, as his works range from slow, hypnotic songs to very fast ones. Oftentimes his tunes are cutesy, high-pitched and repetitive. His earlier works were more chip-tune-ish but lately, he's been using a lot of bass and deep tones coupled with high tinkly sounds in his songs. The lyrics of his songs are not always as repetitive as "Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!" but they have this gluing factor that makes you hum them for days. The clarity of the lyrics is not an issue, as he concentrates more on the beats and the catchiness of the song. Sometimes, the lyrics are eve garblish, like they're part of the music beats themselves.

He uses only Miku to sing his songs and most of the time, Miku is tuned high and sharp to match his electropop melodies. There's not much depth on the tuning as Miku is intended to sing as robotic (albeit cute) as possible to make the lyrics seem repetitive and catchy. There is really no distinct style in his Miku aside from the fact that she's often made to sing really fast lyrics.

Aside from making Vocaloid songs, he also composes non-Vocaloid works (mostly BGM-ish types) and makes Miku-centric videos not related to his songs. As I said before, though, he makes the flash-y videos of his songs himself, and watching his PVs while listening to the songs makes his songs even more adorably catchy.

His website lists all of his releases including CDs and adorable T-shirts. I mean, tell me, who would say no to a Nyanyanyanyanyanya! Shirt??

I first heard of daniwellP's Nekomimi Switch, but I never got into him because his genre isn't my type of music. Back then it was still chiptune-y. Then Nyanya(ry came out and it was stuck in my head for days. Since then I've been on the watch for more hypnotic uploads and gladly stare at them for weeks. I love how he personally makes his PVs as they're more apt to his music (and the beats, esp. in Electrical Parade and Nyanyanya(ry match so well, too!). Currently, my favorite is Electrical Parade because of the damn catchy melody and the PV of flipping Miku tiles that I just can't stop watching.
