Producer Spotlight: NioP
NioP / におP
mylist | community | piapro | blog
NioP is a seasoned Vocaloid producer, having uploaded Vocaloid songs in NND since the start of 2008. You might have known him from his first hit, rain stops, good-bye which remains one of the most favorite ballads in the Vocaloid-dom. It is also his second most-viewed work in NND.
While his songs exhibit a wide range of melodies, instrumentation and themes, NioP's works are mostly piano ballads, the rest bordering towards bossa nova and jazz. As a piano player, he does all the piano melodies in his songs. His ballads are often described as calming and easy to listen to, while his jazzy, more upbeat works are often mentioned as smooth and classy. The themes of his songs mostly talk of personal and relationship issues and they have a variety of sensitive themes from separation to cheating. The clarity as well as the messages hidden behind pretty metaphors and actions give a certain sentimental feeling to his songs that make them timeless favorites by newcomers and old members of the Vocaloid community.
NioP uses Miku for most of his works, but he also uses the Kagamine twins from time to time. His Rin and Miku are tuned high and solid, with a slight softness in ballads and a slight sharpness in jazz. His Len is often tuned low, but he can have strong high-pitched notes in song climaxes.
Aside from composing Vocaloid works, he has also done original songs and collaborated with utaite like Himawari and Umineko. He also collabs with other producers, often providing piano melodies for their works, like with buzzG's Albino or tuning Vocaloids, like with DevilishP's Hikarizakura. He also sings a lot, whether covers of his own works or other people's, as you might see in his utattemita mylist. His voice is gentle, calming and reminiscent of Umineko's voice, like his songs.
So far, NioP has released one album, called UFHs -luxury-, but he has taken part in compilation albums like Farbe and EXIT TUNES PRESENTS Supernova 6

Like most of you, I was introduced to NioP's wonderful songs starting with rain stops, good-bye. He is one of my favorite ballad-makers with Rerulili, because his songs are always so...descriptive, either full of adjectives or actions. I have a lot of favorites that it was hard for me to list sample songs, but my favorite favorites are Mitsubachi, muddy cloud, After this, and Kaerimichi. I also looooove listening to his covers because they're so yasashii/////. I especially liked his cover of Rainbow Connection (English lyrics!) and Hikarizakura because of LiveP's and his wonderful contrast in range and voice.
