Producer Spotlight: Kihee

Kihee is a Vocaloid producer who started uploading songs in NND since 2008, but unlike most Ps that started the same year, is not very active and has only 10+ songs in his collection. He is mostly known for his most popular song Aquarium.
According to his profiles in sites, Kihee gained attention even when uploading Vocaloid songs for the first time because he didn't seem to be a beginner in Vocaloid/composing, impressing listeners with his dexterous use of instruments and Vocaloids. He has touched a lot of genres that it's hard to pinpoint which genre he specializes on, but most of his songs are jazzy in nature. His songs often have realistic band melodes, with lots of piano, saxophone and drums. According to his atwiki profile, he was a bassist for a band, yet he doesn't use that much bass melody in his works.
His first Vocaloid was Hatsune Miku, and has composed a lot of songs with her. However, he has moved on to Luka and later on to VY1 and Nekomura Iroha. All his Vocaloids are tuned low and velvety, probably because of the jazzy nature of his songs. He is most often praised for his tuning for Megurine Luka, who sings in a low, sultry voice in his songs.
Kihee has not released a CD of his own, but he has participated in some compilations such as creazuma's Try!, The Vocajazz vol. 1, and EXIT TUNES Presents Supernova 4. He also collaborates with other P's sometimes, usually with tuning, like how he tuned Luka's voice in Rerulili's Mr. Music. He also arranged "Colorless" for Clear's mini album "Colors".

Kihee's "Aquarium" is one of my first favorite Vocajazz songs so his Luka songs have a special place in my heart. He's also one of the best jazz composers around, and it's always a pleasure listening and looking forward to the instrumental parts of his songs. It's a pity he doesn't have an album yet, because I always thought his songs are so classy and in high quality, especially the instruments part! While my favorites are all Luka works, I'm liking Kihee's Iroha and VY1, too, so I look forward to more songs with them as well~.
