Weekly Vocaloid Ranking # 212 (October 17-24, 2011)

Sorry for being late. This week's ranking has a looooooooot of wonderful songs from Ps popular and not, so please do check them out! Our top 3 are all seasoned producers, so you might be glad to see them but I assure you the new ones (or the Ps you haven't heard before...probably) also have intense contributions to this ranking. Aside from the GUMI overload which is becoming normal these days, I'm glad for the many Len songs :3. Enjoy!

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. Glorious World (Hatsune Miku) - papiyon
- Well, of course XD;. This is the carrier song of papiyon's album of the same name and as always, it has that charming piano melody that makes me love ChouchoP's works so much. I am not a fan of papiyon's tuning, but his melody is always so amazingly intricate. The PV adds to the impact of the song.

02. Breath of mechanical (JimmythumbP)
- Jimmythumb's latest work is said to be simple, both in theme and melody. But the theme is still deeper and darker than most, although the slightly upbeat rhythm makes it pretty. I translated the song here.

03. Juu Mensou colorful ver. (GUMI V3) - YM
- Title means "Ten Faces". This is a remake of the popular song using the new GUMI software and its voicebanks. It's ten times more awesome and as always, an enjoy to watch because of the PV. The voices might seem a bit wobbly, but you can clearly see the differences among the voicebanks.

04. Envy Catwalk (Hatsune Miku) - Tohma
- Tohma's releasing hit after hit, this time with a slightly tamer one compared to Babylon and Lilia. Miku is tuned very high again and the music is laden with chiptunish beat and guitars.

05. Senbonzakura (Hatsune Miku) - KurousaP
- ↑06 Title means "A Thousand Cherry Blossoms".

06. Aikarakaia (GUMI) - Marudaruma
- First time I'm hearing the P and the song is like a more twisted koushirou song XD; It's fast, irrepressibly cute and kind of morbid. The PV is just XDD.

07. Hoshi wo Wataru Tori (Kagamine Len) - Nem
- My favorite (aside from Yoiyami no Augustin) in Nem's CD "Gliese", this is a jazzy piece with Len in super low vocals. I translated the song here.

08. Yurufuwa Juukai Girl (Hatsune Miku) - IshiburoP
- ↓07

09. Lucid Dreaming (Hatsune Miku) - Kue/NaiveP
- This is upbeat, simple and catchy and it works against Miku's solid vocals. There are just times when Miku sounds a bit drowned because of the multitude of sounds.

10. ice (Hatsune Miku) - whoo
- I literally went ;________; when I saw this. Whoo is one of my favorite Ps and just like his other works, this one is just as magical and poignant and mesmerizing. There is an utattemita version of this, too, by Yanagi Nagi instead of Miku.

11. Kagerou Days (Hatsune Miku) - Jin
- ↓02 Title means "Sizzling Hot Days".

12. Bye Bye (Hatsune Miku) - EcchiP
- The P name XD. Anyway, this is typical electropop but Miku sounds a bit softer than expected.

13. Dream Eater (yukkedoluce)
- This is yukke's first attempt to use GUMI in his songs and he does it right! He also tried a different approach to his rock music, with a slightly darker approach (think Machige/otetsu, but tamer) instead of his usual folk rock. His GUMI sounds really high for GUMI but knowing how he previously tuned Miku/Rin, it's not surprising XD.

14. Yume Karasu Kage (Hatsune Miku) - kous
- Title means "Dream Crow's Shadow". One of the Ps whose work I always await! His Miku sounds a bit...lacking here, though. Like she's about to lose breath at the end of each line. But still, the melody is pretty: rock but with muffled guitars and resounding bass.

15. Vocaloid-tachi ga Vocaloid Nation Shuuroku Kyoku wo Session Shita you desu (group) - GYARI
- ↓01 The title roughly means "The Vocaloids Held a Session about Vocalonation's Song Compilation".

16. Houkiboushi (GUMI) - monaca:factory
- I'm not sure if this is translated as such, tbh. But unlike other monaca works, this one is almost a dance track, with powerful electronic beats and fast lyrics. I'm amazed that GUMI sounds really clear here despite the style.

17. Tooi Sora (Hatsune Miku) - NioP
- Title means "The Distant Sky". NioP's ballads are always so beautiful, like this one ;___;.

18. Tsukiyo to Kuroneko (Megurine Luka) - OSTER Project
- Title means "The Moonlit Night and a Black Cat". OSTER's works are so sexy recently ^^; Anyway, this is softer and gentler than her previous works, which is a nice touch for Luka's deep voice.

19. Nigenakatta Baka na Yatsu ga Iru (Hatsune Miku) - HobonichiP
- Title means "There's an Idiot Here Who Wasn't Able to Escape". I don't get the whole thing but as expected from Hobonichi's works, this has something to do w/ recent issues in Japan.

20. Eye Sensor (GUMI Power) - buzzG
- ↑22

21. Usotsuki Betty (Kagamine Rin) - Polyphonic Branch
- ↓12

22. NEXT STAGE (Megurine Luka) - MuryokuP
- ↓03. So awesomeeee. IDE--

23. Sonzai no Answer (Kagamine Len) - SASA
- Title means "The Answer to Existence". It's been a while since I heard a good Len rock song! This one has typical rock melody, but with good, solid guitar playing against snappy drums. Len sounds a bit shaky, but the medium range without fluctuating notes is good to listen to.

24. Mokyu Mokyu (Kagamine Len) - EheheP
- This is originally from Gero's album "Gourmet" and Ehehe just made a Vocaloid version of it. It's so cute ><;

25. Cyber Thunder Cider (VY1) - EZFG
- ↓18

26. Osorezan Revoir (Hatsune Miku) - Capitaro
- The main reason for its reappearance can be found in the Utattemita Ranking.

27. Sa-Ku-Ra (Hatsune Miku) - KEN
- KEN's P-name is read as KetcchuP XD. This dance track has rich electronic beats against Miku's slightly high vocals, reminiscent of HachioujiP's earlier works, but with a more bass-infused melody.

28. Shortcake Syndrome (Hatsune Miku) - colour
- First time I'm hearing this composer's works, and it's really cute. It reminds me a bit of Easypop, but on a totally different sandbox. There is the electronic pop beats, but with Miku with a fuller voice, less autotune.

29. *flowery fairy* (Hatsune Miku) - don
- This is partly vocaleamo, with really strong resounding guitars with a dramatic melody and almost cryful Miku vocals. Compared to other vocaleamo songs by Don, this is especially showy and portrayed more emotionally, imo.

30. Ama no Jaku (GUMI) - 164
- KEEP Title means "Heaven's Weakness".

PICKUP:
A Little Ogre (GUMI Whisper) - Amedama

ED:
Clione (GUMI) - hako

HISTORY
1. crack (Hatsune Miku Dark) - keeno
2. Net Game Haijin Sprechchor (Hatsune Miku) - Satsuki ga Tenkomori
3. Hajimete no Do Re Mi (Hatsune Miku) - OTO
4. Saa, Docchi? (Kagamine Rin x Len) - Hinata Haruhana
5. Traveling Mood (Hatsune Miku Sweet) - whoo
