Weekly Vocaloid Ranking # 214 (October 31- November 07, 2011)

This week surprisingly has a lot of new things, both from popular and not-so-popular producers, but all of them are quite impressive, especially the ones in our top ten. There are still some remnants of Halloween stuff, but most of the songs here are songs that will appear in various albums like otetsu's EXIT TUNES Best of and 164's GUMI album. Anyway, without further ado....

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. 3331 (Hatsune Miku) - Nanou/HoehoeP
- I personally lked "Waltz of Anomalies" more, but this one in contrast to the previous song is so mad powerful. The guitar screech at the start is such a wake up to the nerves (and ears! XD). I love the fast rhythm as well as the angry guitars that eventually subsides a bit to give way to Nanou's high-pitched Miku tuning.

02. Interviewer (Megurine Luka) - KuwagataP
- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cough* I'm sorry ffff. It's just that. IT'S. BEEN. SO. LONG!! Even though he rarely uses her, I love KuwagataP's Luka. And KuwagataP's guitars are amazing as always. And and...I can talk about this song all day and not get tired of it, seriously, so I'll just shut up ;;

03. Track (Megurine Luka) - Eshi ja nai KEI
- While I liked KEI's previous upload more, this one doesn't pale in comparison. It has the typical KEI touch, simple melody, effective lyrics, and Luka's charm.

04. Sweet Float Apartment (GUMI sweet) - IenourademanbougashinderuP
- ↓01 This is catchier than most Manbou songs, not to mention more danceable, LOL.

05. Reset (GUMI) - 164
- ↑07 Seriously, everything 164 does with GUMi is amazing. He's one of the few Ps with a wonderful-sounding high-pitched GUMI. So solid and powerful.

06. Munchausen (GUMI) - TOKOTOKO/NishizawasanP
- Munchausen is a condition where people pretend to have illnesses to the point of really hurting themselves. This song is a bit dramatic compared to other Nishizawasan songs. The melody is a bit heavy because of the repetitive phrases, but the chorus is interesting. GUMI's tuning is also pretty good, I especially like the sudden rise in her voice.

07. Kurayami no Parade (GUMI) - Yucha
- Title means "Parade of Darkness". I was also waiting for this last week but it got in just this week. YuchaP's GUMI sounds a bit short sometimes, but the melody makes up for it. I love how Yucha can incorporate his jazzy sounds anywhere. I like the piano so much.

08. Senbonzakura (Hatsune Miku) - KurousaP
- KEEP. Title means "A Thousand Cherry Blossoms". OMG.

09. Hare Bare Byebye (GUMI) - otetsu
- otetsu's GUMI ; A ; Sorry, the last GUMI hit I heard from otetsu was "Chocolate" so this is a very welcome song for me. This song will also be part of Otetsu's album, like the Luka one below. The thing with his GUMI is that she's tuned lower than Luka, but with the same voice texture -- a bit whispery but solid enough for the guitars and drums.

10. Halloween Patisserie Tricka Torka (Vocaloids) - MachigeritaP
- ↑19

11. Pumpkin Syndrome (Kagamine Rin and Len) - Polyphonic Branch
- ↓11

12. Ryuuseigun no You ni (GUMI) - Yudai
- Title means "Like a Meteor Shower". Wah, it's so cute. GUMI sounds soft and quiet but the song itself is upbeat, creating a charming combination.

13. Shuumatsu no Mythologia (Hatsune Miku) - Nanahoshi Kangen Gakudan
- Title means "A Weekend's Mythology". I find the guitars a bit noisy and drowning out the voices, but I like Miku's pitch quirks here, it reminds me of liveP's Rin XD.

14. Envy Catwalk (Hatsune Miku) - Tohma
- ↓02

15. Advance (Hatsune Miku) - LamazeP
- LamazeP makes some of the catchiest music in Vocaloid-dom and this is no exception. The lyrics are really simple (and in English!)

16. Glorious World (Hatsune Miku) - papiyon
- ↓04

17. Chaban Capriccio (group) - AkunoP
- ↓12 Title means A "Farce Capriccio". As all of AkunoP's songs, this tells a story in a fantasy rock melody. I'm scared of Len.

18. Mugen Hakai (Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka) - IyaiyaP
- Title means "Destruction of a Fantasy". I'm am very much intrigued by this. It's so beautiful! It seems a bit like ambient electronica at first, but it's actually more of traditional music-inspired, with the second voices. The electronic beats might not be some people's cup of tea, but it's combined really well for me.

19. Kagerou Days (Hatsune Miku) - Jin
- ↓17 Title means "Sizzling Hot Days".

20. virgin suicides (Kagamine Len) - Nem
- ↓03 How many virgin suicides versions do I already have in my player?? /sobs

21. Hansuu no Inshou (Hatsune Miku) - Furu
- Title means "Rumination of Impression". Quite a grand instrumentation with kind of...out of beat lyrics. I'm not sure how to describe LOL. It's a bit different but it's an enjoyable listen. It needs a few listens before you can get used to it, though.

22. Gomenne, Gomenne (Hatsune Miku) - Kikuo
- Title means "I'm sorry, I'm sorry". Listening once to this song will make you sing this all day. Ask Stephie XD.

23. Aoi Kamihikouki (Kagamine Rin) - FayeP
- Title means "Blue Paper Airplane". I think FayeP's trying a different approach here although his jazz vibes are still apparent in the melody, which is lovely, by the way.

24. Tsuyogari na Yowamushi (GUMI power) - RetasuP
- Title means "A Bluffing Coward". I was not used to hearing GUMI sound hoarse, but for this song, with its rough guitars mixed with a bit of keyboards, it actually sounds really nice! I think it's also because GUMI was tuned with very few drastic pitch changes that it doesn't sound screechy or weird. It's actually a wonderful song for me.

25. Daikirai (Megurine Luka) - otetsu
- ↓13 Title means "I hate you". I can never dislike otetsu's Luka. The melody here is a bit repetitive at times and can sound dull in some parts, but the harsh guitars and otetsu's wonderful Luka tuning makes it work so well. I especially like the chorus as it reminds me of some of otetsu's earlier works.

26. Tokyo Teddy Bear (Kagamine Rin) - Neru
- ↵ 32 Whoa

27. Hajimari no Owari (GUMI) - umedy
- Title means "The End of the Beginning". At first listen, I didn't like it much because it sounds a bit too common. However, after listening to it a few times it actually sticks with you, especially GUMI's slightly muffled but realistic voice. The chorus is especially catchy and the rising guitars are a good touch.

28. Majo no Enbukyoku (Hatsune Miku x Kagamine Rin) - Yakko
- Title means "A Witch's Waltz". I was waiting for this in last week's ranking! LOL. Anyway, I mentioned this in the Halloween post and is a story within a song. The European-inspired melody reminds me of Akuno works, but it's gentler and less intense. Rin and Miku both sound good, too, despite the high pitch.

29. Love Planet (Hatsune Miku) - KusoinakaP
- The drums are a bit distracting, especially in that rhythm, but the guitar work while seemingly mushed (I can't describe it), is okay. The upbeat melody is quite good on the ears after listening to it a few times. Miku also sounds adorable.

30. Requiem (GUMI) - PeperonP
- ↓10 This is so beautiful. GUMi's singing is just like a real person's including the sudden pitch changes.

PICKUP:
Parapparappacharacharari (GUMI x Kagamine Rin) - WorldwideP

ENDING:
Neko ni Wantan (Hatsune Miku) - NanOuP

HISTORY:
1. Fairy-taled 2.5D PV (MEIKO) - yuukiss
2. rainy (Megurine luka) - JimmythumbP
3. Blackjack (Megurine Luka) - YuchaP
4. Ameyumerou (Hatsune Miku x Kagamine Rin) - HitoshizukuP
5. Pumpkin Head Spooky Dance (Hatsune Miku) - MachigeritaP
