Thursday is Producer Day~.
Hello DW members, LJ readers and readers from RSS/outside :).
As you may have noticed, we've been mostly concentrating on utaite stuff since this community started. It's not bad at all, imo, but recently, my friends and I have started learning about Vocaloid producers. You can't have covers without original works after all, right? :) So, in order to step things up, we (or rather I ;;;) decided to make Thursdays in
ofurotaimu Producer day XD.
What is a producer anyway? A producer is generally a Vocaloid song's composer, lyricist and arranger. Producers are sometimes referred to by their P name or their name (whether based on their works or not) plus a P suffix (RyuuseiP, KurousaP, FullkawaP, etc.).
What do we do during P-day? Basically, I'll just post a short intro on one or two Vocaloid producer/s, popular or not, a list of some of their songs and my thoughts on them (like my favorite songs, etc.). Of course, everyone else's homework is to check the producer out and find out more about his/her works! Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Any will do, like your favorite song from the P, your thoughts on his/her style, your favorite covers, etc.! If any of you know more about a certain P featured on P-day, please guide us :3. If you're new into Vocaloid or if you want to know more about the wonderful people behind the songs, let's learn together :D!
Today is Thursday, so I'll be starting P-day now :). Since this is the first post, let's talk about someone most of you might have heard of...
HeavenzP
mylist | piapro | Miku wiki entry
HeavenzP started uploading his Vocaloid works January of 2009 and is not as prolific as some producers, having only uploaded five songs with the most recent this March. Utaite fans might know HeavenzP as the composer of Just Call My Name, which Tourai covered a few months ago.
HeavenzP is known for his rock ballads and is also dubbed as a "bassline magician". He's not very flexible with his melody; you can totally notice the similarities among his songs, but it is part of why his songs have this distinct feel. He tunes his Vocaloid (Miku as of now) to sing in super high (Yurameku) or super low (Just Call My Name) notes, which makes his songs hard to cover if one is aiming to match the original pitch.
Unlike earlier producers, HeavenzP did not get his producer name from his works and has retained his original name for the P suffix. His first work, Yurameku is currently his most viewed upload at more than 100k.
Since he only has less than ten songs, I'm listing them all here, but for those with a massive up list, I'll just choose a few :).
Sample Songs:
• Yurameku | Nicovid | Youtube | lyrics |
• Mousou Daytripper | Nicovid | Youtube | lyrics |
• Just Call My Name | Nicovid | Youtube | lyrics |
• Imitation | Nicovid | Youtube | lyrics |
• Atoms | Nicovid | Youtube | lyrics |
Nikki says:
My favorite works from him would be Mousou Daytripper and Atoms. Even though it's his least-viewed song, I like Daytripper because it is upbeat and Miku's voice is not as high or low as his other works. Atoms is just amazing with the catchy tune and science terms scattered all over the song! ♥
-----
ETA: I only know a few female Vocaloid producers (OSTER Project, iroha, natsuP) so I'm often unsure of a producer's gender. I will just use he whenever I'm unsure. It's not a bias, ok XD. It's just that some producer names are actually GROUP names and at that time, I have to use "they" for them :).
That wasn't so bad XD. Since we're trying to be more organized here (really, now?), we'll be implementing a day schedule for the posts :).
Monday - Weekly Utattemita Ranking
Tuesday - Weekly Vocaloid Ranking (or monthly, if there is)
Wednesday - free day (for my other sites minty rain and
