Hello. It's been a while since I posted an update in this community, and I feel bad that it is going to be a sad one.

Since its opening in 2009,

ofurotaimu has gained a lot of readers and followers, which in turn helped us meet a lot of people with the same interests in Vocaloid, utattemita, odottemita, and the general Nico Nico Douga community. We've witnessed a lot of firsts in the NND community (the first virtual concert, the first daikaigi, the first nnd movie, etc.) and even though there were only a few people updating this community, we're glad to have been part of the fandom.

However, as much as we'd like to continue with our usual posts and updates, the moderators of this community have grown busy--both in real life and in other fandoms--and thus find it difficult to find ample time to update. I personally had a lot of hiatuses these past couple of years due to work and other factors, and Stephie will be pursuing her own career soon. With a lot of things to take into consideration, we decided that we will close ofurotaimu. The comm will not be deleted, so everyone can still browse previous posts, but it will not be updated anymore.

Even though the dreamwidth community is closed, the ofurotaimu twitter and tumblr accounts will remain open.

stephieku will continue posting updates, schedules, and information in the ofuro twitter while

seraphictune will continue updating the utattemita tumblr. Both accounts are easier to manage, although the updates won't be as frequent as before, too. We hope you would continue following us in the said accounts even though this community is closed.

That said, thank you so much for following this community until now. I'd also like to thank the comm's moderators--Stephie, Len, and Tune. I feel bad that it has come to this point. But even though

ofurotaimu closes, we will all remain connected with our love for Vocaloid and utattemita. This is not the end, right :).

SOBS THAT SO SAD so many good memories with you guys! ;w;

It's been a great 5 years.

When I first got into Utattemita, ofurotaimu was one of my main sources for information. The fandom was still rough around the edges and Nico Nico Douga wasn't very foreigner friendly. Because of that, the community felt very close knit and I made many friends. Group Skype chats that went on for months and endless Twitter flailings. Watching daikaigis together, making cracky haiku, all with people from all around the world who love the same thing.

I was surprised when Nikki asked me to help mod the community. I felt like a newbie and had little confidence I could do well, but I don't regret taking up the responsibility because it's been a blast. This my first time being heavily invested/involved in a site and it was lots of fun discussing with Nikki and the other mods on what to do next. It became more of a site over a community, but I was so proud of being part of it.

We had many dreams and ideas for ofurotaimu, but unfortunately real life gets in the way and the fandom has moved on to different directions. I have regrets that I couldn't do more, but it has been a struggle to update these past year or so. While I will still update the ofurotaimu Twitter with news and namahousou announcements, it's still a sad goodbye. I hope I can still keep in touch with everyone I've met directly or indirectly through this community.

Ahhh, this is such sad news, although completely understandable. ;_; I just want to thank you guys for all the time and effort you poured into this community throughout the years. Like Stephie, I first came here when the vocaloid/utattemita fandom was tiny and barren in the West and Ofuro constantly remained as one of the best, most reliable sources in it -- all thanks to your hard work.

Thank you for all the good times, the laughs, the crack, everything. I've made amazing friends here and that's something I hope won't change no matter what life ends up throwing at you. ♥♥♥ Good luck with everything, mods!!

Ah let's see... I guess it's always sad to see yet another community I'm in are closing in, especially because being in ofurotaimu has given me so many things like new friends and knowledge over nnd itself

I joined for like... 4 years (?) Already?! And during those years I've met a lot of amazing people in the community and it feels like, being in here has been such a blessing for me. I started from knowing nothing about nnd and its feature from here I am and to be frank if I haven't found ofurotaimu I probably will never got into the nnd fandom (esp vocaloid) as much as it is now :')
Though my contribution in this community is pretty low, and I never really met any of the mods irl (although I wished I ever had the chances too someday w) I really glad I've met you guys! I hope even with the community closing down we can still talk on other media sometime. I've been helping with news update after I offer myself to help and I did enjoy doing it, although I'm sad that I can't help much anymore due to my irl issues lately but thank you for giving me the chances to help the mods (stephie esp maybe w) to update ofurotaimu each time

I have never expected to said this right now but, thank you for being a part of my life and even though the community is closing in I still hope to talk with everyone else in here on the future! Thank you ofurotaimu community for giving such a wonderful color to my life!

I'm so sorry to hear this! I was more of a lurker but I appreciated all the reference posts and updates. I definitely understand the closure and am glad you'll leave the community up since it's been a really helpful and informative tool. Thanks for all of your work.

I am sad to hear that ofurotaimu will be closing but that's understandable and I hope everyone will continue to stay connected :) Ofurotaimu has been the start of many things for me - I have met a lot of great people and made friends who I talk to (probably more than my IRL friends) and ofuro has pretty much been like a home for me even if I wasn't always active in participating on this site ww

Thank you Nikki for extending your greetings to me when I first got into the utattemita fandom, without you and everyone else from ofuro these past few years would not have been much fun (or I would have possibly turned out less of a neet /w\). Thank you Nikki for your crack and your awesome leadership (in corrupting everyone in the ofuro), we didn't manage to dominate the world with ofurotaimu international offkais but it was still fun!

Thank you Stephie, Len and Tune for everything you've done too! Hope to continue flailing about everything with you guys on twitter/plurk from now on too hehehe.

Waaahh I check in on Ofurotaimu after months and it's closed down so recently?!

Ofurotaimu has been such a great site and wonderful resource of all things NND for all of us. I joined Ofurotaimu in 2011 so it's been 3 years, wowow. I was so pleasantly surprised to stumble across Ofurotaimu!
In 2011, it wasn't the easiest thing to find utattemita related news like how it is now where you can just search through tags on tumblr.
I was more of a lurker on this community, but I felt happy being a part of it :>
I won't ever forget the weekly Utarankings with Nikki's comments on the songs, that time when Ofurotaimu made their own Smiling cover, & etc.

Haha I was a lurker here for quite a few years but I loved checking to see what was going on. I'm so glad the twitter/tumblr will continue, it would be a little sad thinking that you guys were gone!
