Weekly Vocaran #159 (October 11-18, 2010)

This week's ranking only has a few new songs, but they're all wonderful. Most of the songs in the ranking are just movements from the previous week but there's a couple of surprising re-entries. Also, some of the songs in the higher ranks are from new and/or underappreciated producers so please look through them! :)

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. Shotgun Lovers (Hatsune Miku) - NoboruP
- NoboruP already has a lot of hits, but this is the first time I've seen him release a rock hit? Different from his Monochrome Blue Sky and Shiroi Yuki no Princess wa, this song is generous on guitars, drums and forceful Miku voice. It takes quite some time before it grew on me, but it's lovely.

02. Net Game Haijin Sprechchor (Hatsune Miku) - Satsuki ga Tenkomouri
- A song about online game addicts, what do you know XD? The melody is commonplace but the additional beats are interesting. Miku's tuning is pretty good except at the super low parts. LOL-ing at blurred MMORPG screencaps.

03. Gekkou Shokudou (Hatsune Miku) - NuuP
- First upload of a new producer and it's already this amazing. It reminds me of keeno's success with "glow". This one is a ballad reminiscent of FullkawaP's works. It sounds so mystifying and sleep-inducing for some reason. The art is also pretty.

04. Specificiation (Hatsune Miku) - papiyon
- After his ballad hit, papiyon releases another song seemingly closer to "Love Atomic Transfer". The piano melody is amazing as always. However, as of last week, papiyon said he might be taking a break from releasing songs as he's concentrating on the release of his CD in M3 (or another event).

05. Egologist (Hatsune Miku) - T-pocket
- It's not a misspelling. T-pocket's beat is as catchy as always (remember 1925?). The unique intro was fetching and the fast-paced song made it very loopable. I'm amused at how simple the PV is.

06. Top Secret (Hatsune Miku) - scop
- ↓01

07. No Nai Denpa (GUMI) - YM
- Please correct me if my title translation is wrong. This is the first time I've seen YM rank so high and it's for a good reason! This is probably one of his/her best GUMI songs. The guitars in this rock song sound good and GUMI sounds so cool, albeit a bit shaky. The PV is pretty entertaining too.

08. Knife (Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin/Len) - Rerulili
- ↓03

09. Matryoshka (GUMI x Hatsune Miku) - hachi
- ↓06

10. Kakurenbo (Hatsune Miku) - buzzG
- ↓02

11. Uso na Kisu to (GUMI) - NishizawasanP
- This finally entered the ranking. Nishizawasan's music is, as always, superb, although his GUMI sounds extra nasally to me XD.

12. Tabechauzo (Gachapin) - med_ley
- ↓8 I still...just... o_o

13. α (Hatsune Miku) - LamazeP
- Glad to see this here, finally. Probably also pulled up by LamazeP's appearance in that Nico Nico Vocaloid Tutorial thing where his mask was a fan ^^;.

14. Moka (Hatsune Miku) - Tsunamaru/MezameP
- ↑16

15. Mozaik Role (GUMI) - DECO*27
- ↓11

16. Millennia (Hatsune Miku) - Kanata Jun
- ↑24

17. Hello / How Are You? (Hatsune Miku) - HoehoeP
- ↓09

18. Happy Lab (Hatsune Miku) - TRI-ReQ
- keep

19. Synchronicity ~Hikari to Kage no Rakuen (Kagamine Rin and Len) - HitoshizukuP
- This was pulled up because of Re: and Lilie's cover which was number 1 in this week's utaran. Even without the covers, this song is wonderfully chilling and beautiful. It's like you feel like crying when you watch it (...that or feel you're playing an RPG, whichever is applicable).

20. Uta ni Katachi wa nai Keredo (Hatsune Miku) - doriko
- ↵66 An old doriko favorite that is not Romishin making its way into the ranking after a long time? Yes. It is currently at 1,500,000 views. Wow.

21. Master of Puppets (Hatsune Miku & Megurine Luka) - Death Ohagi and YurahonyaP
- The entrance reminds me of Machigerita's works, only jazzy instead of rock. Ohagi did the music while Yorahonya tuned the Vocaloids. The melody is amazing (pianoooo) and the Vocaloids aren't tuned badly at all. The movie is a bit x_X because of all the shaking, but it's pretty nice. Quite a nice watch.

22. Juliet and Romeo (Kagamine Rin, Hatsune Miku) - Tes.
- ↓04

23. Traveling Mode (Hatsune Miku) - whoo
- Whoo's Miku is always so breathy and soft-spoken and definitely worked well with his guitar ballad. Very relaxing.

24. Antidichlorobenzene (Kagamine Rin) - OwataP
- ↓12

25. World's End Dancehall (Hatsune Miku x Megurine Luka) - wowaka
- ↓13

26. Honoka (Hatsune Miku) - ArieP
- A sweet, slightly upbeat pop song from a producer I don't know. The beat is cute and atchy. Miku's tuning is pretty okay. I first heard Kano's cover of this, though, and it was cutified like ten times more ;;.

27. Perfect Solution (Kagamine Len) - Koushiro
- ↓21

28. Charon (Hatsune Miku) - KulfiQ
- ↓22

29. Clown (Hatsune Miku) - KulfiQ
- ↓15

30. Kairaishi-tachi ni Yoru (Kaai Yuki) - PeperonP
- PeperonP is known for using obscure Vocaloids and composing wonderful songs with them. This is one of them. I rarely see Yuki used in such dark, rockish themes but she ends up being wonderful here.

history
1. 1925 (Hatsune Miku) - T-Pocket
2. Morning Call (KAITO) - Oster Project
3. Sing My Love (Hatsune Miku) - 40mP
4. Kuchuu Teian (Kagamine Rin and Len) - Ahiru Gunsou
5. Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari (Hatsune Miku) - timtim

pickup
Ka ga PIYO! (Kagamine Rin and Len) - Wonderful Opportunity!
Ichinen Tayori (KAITO) - 樞 and Shieika

My favorites from this ranking would have to be: Gekkou Shokudou (#3), Specification (#4), Egologist (#5), Master of Puppets (#21), and Traveling Mode (#23).
