HearJapan Scop is one of my favorite Vocaloid producers (at the moment) and he will be celebrating his birthday next month, so I decided to make a spotlight on him first :3.
Scop is a prolific Vocaloid producer, having uploaded a lot of songs since his debut in 2008. His first big break is with his hit
Lowry's Room and since then he had released a lot of songs which became extremely popular. Most of his songs have sad or bitterweet messages hidden behind the beautiful music.
He is known for making songs with wonderfully unique piano melodies. His earlier works were more on upbeat electropop, as well as piano ballads. Recently, he has started leaning towards upbeat jazz led by piano (and sometimes violins). He also has some songs bordering on alternative rock, but they're still dominated with piano music combined with crisp electric guitar and very subtle drums.
Scop uses solely Hatsune Miku for his works. His tuning varied a little over time. His first songs has Miku singing in a slightly muffled, faded voice that are shaky at times. As he progressed, his Miku slowly turned crisper and more solid. His Miku has interesting "stops", usually at the end of each line, giving his songs a unique identity. Aside from Miku, a lot of utaite also cover his songs despite their higher-than-normal pitch.
Scop holds regular namahousou and also sings covers of other people's songs. He has a really cute voice ;).
On a more personal note, Scop dreams of having a music-related career and always hopes that his songs will come to touch people's hearts, even if they're a little sad (and morbid at times). He likes bitter and sweet things, but he does not drink. He said in Twitter that he cannot play the piano at all, but he can do so with a mouse ^^;. And if what he said in Twitter (again) is true, it will be his birthday this March 5. :) Don't forget to greet!

nikki saysI first knew of scop when I listened to "Lowry's Room" (and Seriyu's awesome cover of it). The next time I encountered his work was with "Internet City" and by then I wondered why he would make such sad lyrics with his music. Despite listening to his ballads a lot, I love his jazz works the most. My favorite will always be "Yubikiri", although his recent "Top Secret", "Raindrops", and "eve*2" are really awesome, too. His music aside, I like reading his tweets because he likes complaining about cleaning his room and talking of his daydreams XD.
