(2009 - 2014)

Hello. It's been a while since I posted an update in this community, and I feel bad that it is going to be a sad one.

Since its opening in 2009, [community profile] ofurotaimu has gained a lot of readers and followers, which in turn helped us meet a lot of people with the same interests in Vocaloid, utattemita, odottemita, and the general Nico Nico Douga community. We've witnessed a lot of firsts in the NND community (the first virtual concert, the first daikaigi, the first nnd movie, etc.) and even though there were only a few people updating this community, we're glad to have been part of the fandom.

However, as much as we'd like to continue with our usual posts and updates, the moderators of this community have grown busy--both in real life and in other fandoms--and thus find it difficult to find ample time to update. I personally had a lot of hiatuses these past couple of years due to work and other factors, and Stephie will be pursuing her own career soon. With a lot of things to take into consideration, we decided that we will close [community profile] ofurotaimu. The comm will not be deleted, so everyone can still browse previous posts, but it will not be updated anymore.

Even though the dreamwidth community is closed, the ofurotaimu twitter and tumblr accounts will remain open. [personal profile] stephieku will continue posting updates, schedules, and information in the ofuro twitter while [personal profile] seraphictune will continue updating the utattemita tumblr. Both accounts are easier to manage, although the updates won't be as frequent as before, too. We hope you would continue following us in the said accounts even though this community is closed.

That said, thank you so much for following this community until now. I'd also like to thank the comm's moderators--Stephie, Len, and Tune. I feel bad that it has come to this point. But even though [community profile] ofurotaimu closes, we will all remain connected with our love for Vocaloid and utattemita. This is not the end, right :).

Thank you,
Nikki

This is a post where everyone, even those with OPEN ID accounts and even those who are Anon, can post Vocaloid and utattemita-related news that they read in the web, heard through the grapevine, etc. This post will be open the whole month and people can freely comment with news and info they gathered. Typically at the end of the month I compile the posts new into a single post. Recently, I have neglect doing this, so please refer to the comments for the latest news. For a list of upcoming Utattemita releases, please refer to the Utaite DB.

Feel free to do a complete write-up on a news topic and post it on the community if there is enough information released about the topic. For any other announcements or short news bits, please post them here.

The old news post is here.

Just some rules to make the post orderly.
• make sure the news item you share hasn't been shared yet in any of the comments;
• make sure that you are reporting something that hasn't happened yet or happened very recently
• post the news as a parent thread, not as a comment to another comment, unless it is additional information to a previous reported news bit;
• write a blurb on the title on what the news is about so it'd be easy to find;

e.g.; [Utattemita] Mi-chan releasing a single in Vocaloid Master, [Vocaloid] New 40mP Vocaloid Album "Shounen to Mahou no Robot"

• write the date! And provide a source, preferably an official website or nicovideo link if possible; and
• feel free to comment on the news post with additional information or to fangirl, since all comments under the parent comment (the one with the news) will be considered fannish stuff.

Happy New Year! After more than half a year of hiatus, I'm trying to return to the regular programming of posting translations of the utattemita ranking. There are a few changes, though.
• Utaran has removed his mylist of the songs in the rankings because the change in NND's layout made it unusable.
• Since it takes more time for me to type up the songs and listen to them, I've made the writeup simpler in terms for formatting (since it's the most time-consuming part)
• Later on, when I'm more used to this format I might add comments again! :)

This is the first Utaran of 2014! For newbies to this community as well as to NND, I've included an intro in every post. Enjoy!

Namahousou Schedule
(December 2013)

Updates announced at ofurotaimu's twitter account

Previous Schedule
November

This is a list of all reserved and important namahousou which will take place this month. What kind of namahousou will you see here?

• reserved namahousou (not yet aired but can be TS'd by both premium and free accounts;
• important namahousou (like the daikaigi, other concerts and events); and
• nicoraji and other regular shows which will feature Ps or utaites

There will be no list of ongoing namas or namas that have already aired, even if they can be TS'd. We wanted to be fair to both holders of free and premium accounts, and it would be unfair if we list all past namas if free users can't view them. If you are a premium user and would like to watch previous namas you missed, you can see if they have timeshifts in the community pages. Note that you can only watch and timeshift community-locked namahousou if you are a member of the community!

This project will hopefully be as consistent as the news pool. If you are part of a community with a reserved nama (meaning they already have a slot/alert/link even if they haven't aired yet), please post them in the comments and they will be added to the list!

Hello everyone!
I was asked by Pinc to tell everyone that they want people to post their own Utattemita covers of DECO*27's "Ai Kotoba II" to DECO*27's Facebook! Pinc is a management, publishing, and distribution company for many Vocaloid producers such as DECO*27. They want people from many different countries to participate. Any sort of cover is allowed: full covers, just the chorus, a capella, with music... anything! Once again, they would like people to post it on DECO*27's Facebook page, so they can post and introduce your covers on his page! They are taking submissions until Dec 20th.

Update: Looks like they're excepting any sort of fanworks, not just covers, but odottemitas and illustrations are also welcome!

"Ai Kotoba II" was written in celebration of DECO*27's 5th anniversary of being a Vocaloid producer. It features a different arrangement and lyrics than the original "Ai Kotoba". It is a song about thanks, so let's show our thanks to DECO*27's wonderful music by posting our own covers!

You can download the instrumental from this link. This link is also provided in the above video's description.

Fhána is a group that consists of producers Junichi Sato, yuxuki waga, kevin mitsunaga, and vocalist towana. Before their major label debut, all the members were active in the internet amateur music scene. Junichi Sato, under FLEET, has been releasing music on the internet for many years. Yuxuki waga is a well-known and active Vocaloid producer under the circle s10rw. Kevin Mitsunaga is the creator of the project "Leggysalad" and is part of the "net-label" scene. The 3 of them represented "3 generations of the internet" with Junichi representing the "pre-broadband age", yuxuki the "Nico Nico Douga/Vocaloid age", and kevin the "net-label age". Fhána started out as a group with these 3 members, with towana formally joining as main vocalist in 2012.

It all started around the end of 2009 when Twitter boomed in popularity, yuxuki, a fan of FLEET since his university days, began talking with Junichi Sato on Twitter. They started chatting with each other frequently and yuxuki invited him to a VOM@S event. Junichi Sato found Vocaloid culture interesting and was interested in writing his own Vocaloid songs. Towana was in a band with yuxuki when he was still a student. Junichi Sato became acquainted with kevin mitsunaga through Twitter. They were all participants at a live at 2.5D and met each other in person during preparations. They bonded over their common interests such as the anime "CLANNAD". At a maid cafe they agreed to "make a band that'll move you to tears like CLANNAD!" Fhána started out as just the 3 of them with various guest vocalists. Their first release was kotonoha breakdown on s10rw's album TRANSIT LOUNGE in 2011. They released their first independently produced album New World Line featuring vocalists Aoi Tada, Vocaloid IA, Makiko Naka (of Tornado Tatsumaki), and towana. After towana performed with them live in 2012, she became an official member.

On August 21, 2013, fhána debuted under a major label with their single Que sera sera. Fhána is a joint project with Lantis and U/M/A/A. Que sera sera is the ending theme song of anime Uchouten Kazoku (aka "The Eccentric Family"). They recently released their next single tiny lamp on November 23, 2013. It is the theme song of anime Gingitsune. Fhana has also been confirmed to be performing the theme song of upcoming anime Witchcraft Works.

Fhána has also collaborated with many other artists and composed songs for Choucho ("looping star" & "life is blue back"), and Mai Aizawa ("Sono Setsuna"). They have also remixed songs for Sayonara Ponytail ("Mahou no Melody"), DECO*27 ("Nisoku Hokou"), for anime "ROBOTIC:NOTES", and more. They also perform live with Junichi Sato on keyboards & backing vocals, yuxuki waga on guitar, kevin mitsunaga on sampler & PC, and towana as main vocalist.

Their major label releases are now available on worldwide iTunes for purchase! Scroll down for iTunes Store links and if you prefer a CD, links to import stores.

Junichi Sato

Under FLEET, Junichi Sato uploaded his own music on his homepage, which was quite rare at the time, as Youtube and Nico Nico Douga did not exist yet. FLEET was formed in 2004 by Junichi Sato and Yuuichi Ikeda. In 2006, FLEET debuted under a major label. Shortly after Ikeda left FLEET in 2009, Junichi Sato continued to use the FLEET name to produce his solor works. He composed his first Vocaloid song with Hatsune Miku called Cipher, which was included on s10rw's TRANSIT LOUNGE. Junichi Sato is also an art director and graduated from his university specializing in design. He is also the vice editor-in-chief at internet culture information site NETOKARU. In fhána, Junichi Sato is the main composer and writes the main melodies and codes with simple rhythms. Then yuxuki and kevin add, modify, and clean up the song. He also takes care of keyboard, synthesizer, chorus, and occasionally the bass.
