While having a lot of remnant from last week, this ranking boasts of wonderful new songs specifically from GUMI and from the to-be-released Vocaloid IA -Aria on the Planetes-. There are a couple of songs which are also going to be part of big albums, as well as covers and rearrangements.

The picture cover for this ranking, by the way, is new Vocaloid Tone Rion.

This week, we have a lot of covers courtesy of the queen of Len covers, OrebananaP. There are also surprisingly a lot of returning songs, most probably because of their covers in the Utattemita Ranking. We also have quite a few unfamiliar names in this ranking so if you can, please spare a minute to check their music out!

A bit late, I'm sorry. The opening picture for this week's Vocaran is Yuzuki Yukari, the Vocaloid3 software developed by Vocalomakets and AHS. This week has a lot of awesome new songs, but a lot of the good songs from last week has remained too.

Again, many thanks to Stephie for covering the Vocaran for the last two weeks.

Since Nikki will be gone for a few days, I'll be filling in for her today! Also Sippotan is back, so this is likely the last weekly ranking by Iori.

Sorry my comments are so boring, I liked most of the songs this week (even the ones I didn't comment on) 8D;. There are some old returners due to new uploads and news.

Apologies for being so damn late.

Due to work issues, I haven't been able to do the Vocaran for this week. However, [personal profile] stephieku has kindly typed up the Vocaran writeup for the comm. The only thing lacking are the comments, since we both don't have the time right now to listen and comment properly on each song. But! Stephie has included everything else in the ranking. A big thanks to her!

Today's ranking has a lot of movements, especially in the old songs (I'm a bit surprised at the rises XD). There is also the Kira Miki Fest, which is why we have 2-3 Miki songs in the ranking this week. There are also a lot of new ones to check out! :)

As always, thank you so much to Iori-san for adopting the ranking and taking the time to upload! Let's also hope that sippotan and his house/family are safe and are near recovery! That said, let's go on with the ranking.

Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #175 (January 31-February 7, 2011)

This week's ranking doesn't have as many new stuff as before, but the few new ones are all awesome. At the same time, there's quite a lot of movement among the old songs (and a few familiar ones are rising again...). Pardon the lack of intelligent comments (I'm mostly spazzing, it's unforgivable). It's 1AM LOL.

Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #174 (January 24-31, 2011)

I'm a bit late (by hours?) with this week's writeup, since I'm busy finishing some stuff for this month XD;. Anyway, this week has a lot of remnants of the previous rankings, but there are a few new songs worth a listen. Most of the old songs are at the bottom of the ranking, so it's apparent that the new songs are also top-notch. Super old regulars also showed some strength this week, either returning or not slipping away (yes, this includes daniwellP's nyanya song which is still stuck in my head XD).

I have a mod announcement coming up a bit later, so please wait for that, too!

Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #173 (January 17-25, 2011)

This week's ranking has a good influx of new songs although most of those from the past week are strong enough to stay (even if pushed down a lot). There are a lot of rock songs this week, too, as well as awesomely catchy ones!

I apologize for the lack of info and comments on the PV and images. I wrote this at work and my work Mac has no Flash (yay!) so I'm using nicosound to stream the whole thing x_X;

natsuP

mylist | website | blog | mixi comm

NatsuP is a rather popular Vocaloid producer mostly because of her Vanan'Ice projects. She is part of SCL (Seven Color Light) Project, which is a group consisting of her as producer, haku as guitarist, haruaki as illustrator and PV-maker, and sakura michii as adviser, illustrator and singer. SCL Project is essentially involved with NatsuP's Vanan'ice works, but not with her other works. NatsuP is a self-proclaimed otaku and finds comfort in front of her computer. She likes hair-raising songs, pretty things, smart people, gamers, appliance stores, record stores, bookstores, and curry. She also loves her dog very much.

NatsuP's name is always attached to her Vanan'Ice projects (Imitation Black, Fate:Stay Rebirth, Setsugetsuka) which are all rockish songs (thanks to haku's guitar). But before that, she has actually composed a lot of songs which are slower, sweeter and less dark. Her first works are mostly piano ballads for Miku. Then she moved on to Gakupo and went a little crazier and crackier XD;. She has also used Luka in less popular works. At one point, she also used GUMI. At this point, she has 20+ songs in her collection, including remakes but excluding collaborations with other producers.

Her music is hard to define, to be honest, especially since she started with ballads. She has no constant melody or music genre, although she's usually leaning towards fast alternative or rock songs. She uses a wide variety of instrument sounds, too. Despite the fact that she writes a lot of crack, I like them because unlike those usual aspiring funny songs which are usually moe/cutesy pop in nature, natsuP's brand of crack songs is presented with catchy rock beats. Her generous use of dramatic piano and violin music in her songs is also a plus as well as one of the reasons why her visual-kei Vanan'ice is insanely popular.

Her Vocaloids are usually well-tuned. Her Miku was sounds really lovely in her ballads, and is probably the best sounding of her Vocaloids. Her Luka is a bit shaky, but has nice breathy sounds. Her Gakupo is a bit too high at times, but I think he matches her songs perfectly. I do think that her Kaito's still a little shaky, as you can observe in the Vanan'ice songs, but matching with Gakupo's vocal swagger and Len's shota voice, it's negligible. I think one good point about natsuP's vocaloids is that she pairs them well with the songs. Miku for ballads and light pop, Luka for the sexier themed, Gakupo for crack, operatic, rock-y songs, GUMI for pop/alternative, and Kaito and Len for rock. But then again, if she can make them talk like hosts in radio shows and people can understand them, there is little question about her tuning :).

sample songs
Zutto -for a long time- (Miku)
This Heart -piano ver- (Miku)
Monzetsu ☆ Nasu Adagio (Gakupo)
Keihou! Pururun Shirei ☆ Kakusei-han (Luka)
777 wa Lucky Kiss ♡ (GUMI)

nikki says

I knew natsuP because of Paranoid Doll and Imitation Black. I have always admired how her Vocaloids sounds so energetic in her songs. Then [personal profile] southerncross became her fan and I was led to discover her songs outside Vanan'Ice and Gakupo. Despite that she has many works, they're too diverse in style that I cannot choose a favorite from them. Even the humor factor drastically changes, some are dark and serious, some are super hilarious. But it's also because of that that I never get bored of her works.

By the way, I initially thought natsuP was a guy. But upon following her twitter, I realize she's a girl after all (she has a very cute toy dog, pink iPod, nice manicure and very nice cow-print flats in some of her pictures ^^;). If I made a mistake despite that, please do inform me. Thanks!
