Weekly Vocaran #175 (01/31-02/07, 2011)

Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #175 (January 31-February 7, 2011)

This week's ranking doesn't have as many new stuff as before, but the few new ones are all awesome. At the same time, there's quite a lot of movement among the old songs (and a few familiar ones are rising again...). Pardon the lack of intelligent comments (I'm mostly spazzing, it's unforgivable). It's 1AM LOL.

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. Kami Kyoku (Hatsune Miku) - OnyuuP
- ↑12 What else would be good enough to topple Panda Hero off its reign? The God's Song itself, of course XD;. Please tell me I'm not the only one who spent hours trying to see everything in the PV or trying hard to get the catchy beat off my head ^^;. It's amusing how one year ago, OnyuuP was also the number 1 in the ranking.

02. Kagefumi Etranger (Hatsune Miku) - Substreet
- Title translates to "Shadow Tag Stranger". Keep. Wow.

03. ↑Jinsei Game↓ (Hatsune Miku) - Yuzuhiko
- Title translates to "Life's Game". Yuzuhiko is on a roll o.o. He just uploaded a hit last week (it's still down there, too!). This one is again rich in piano music with a bit of delicious eeriness.

04. Shabettaaaaaaaa!!! (Hatsune Miku) - Higeru/ManzokuP
- ↑16 Hahaha XD

05. Panda Hero (GUMI) - hachi
- ↓01

06. Amedama Psychologist (Kagamine Rin) - papiyon
- Title translates to "Candy Psychologist". Surprise, surprise, papiyon actually used Rin this time! The intro reminds me of Specification, even the piano melody. His piano music is awesome as always. Rin needs a little more exuberance or maybe I'm just comparing her too much to papiyon's Miku.

07. Yuunagi Platform (Hatsune Miku) - KulfiQ
- Title translates to Platform of the Evening Calm. This is a little more rock-ish and guitar-rich compared to most of KulfiQ's works, but Miku's tuning is the same hauntingly beautiful whispery voice. It surprisingly worked well against the guitars. Not my favorite KulfiQ work, but still very well-done.

08. Shirley!! (Kagamine Rin) - iroha
- Wow. I loooove the melody so much! So much goodness from the instruments (such dexterous use of different instruments/tunes!), the catchy beat which is both cutesy pop and reminiscent of Moon's rhythm. And then there's Rin's wonderful tuning which is not so high and shrill as I expected. Really pretty.

09. Matryoshka (GUMI x Hatsune Miku) - hachi
- ↑13 Matryoshka reminds me so much of "magnet" craze.

10. Cold Hand (Kagamine Rin) - LiveP
- There's a lot of songs this week with beautiful piano melodies and this is one of them. Not a ballad I had expected from LiveP (I'm too used to his upbeat ones!) so I was happily surprised with this. It sounds like an old-school night club ballad complete with Rin doing vocal stylistics. Rin also sounds surprisingly low here.

11. Mozaik Role (GUMI) - DECO*27
- ↑21

12. Shirayuri Kago (Megurine Luka x Lily) - KunkakunkaP
- Title translates to "White Lily Cage". The song intro is quite different from what's usual in the rankings and reminds me of the start of Mr. Alice. Then it changes into a jazzrock melody. The song sounds a bit lazy, but the piano music laced with rough guitar is fine. The art is a bit sexy as well as the lyrics. Lily sounds awesome here, by the way.

13. Kipple Industries (Hatsune Miku) - millstones
- If I'm not mistaken, Kipple here isthe one from Philip Dick's works. Kipple is garbage that accumulates and reproduces by itself...or something like that! Firstly, the PV of this song...so COLORFUL I love it so much. The song itself is not something I'm used to w/ millstones (upbeat electropop) but it sounds awesome, especially with Miku's perfect and fast singing.

14. Moumou Poem (Hatsune Miku) - Yuzuhiko
- ↑28

15. Motivation (Hatsune Miku) - TEPPAN
- Right before all the new ballads in the lower part of this ranking, we get an upbeat rock-ish song with a really catchy beat. Miku's voice seems to steep for the song, but the guitars are cool.

16. Roshin Yuukai -melt down- Junk Arrange (Kagamine Rin) - Rerulili, iroha original
- ↓06

17. Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya! (Hatsune Miku) - daniwellP
- ↓05

18. Natsu no Hi to, Yuurei to, Kamisama (Kagamine Rin) - Mohu@
- Title translates to "Summer Day, Ghosts and God". I love the music box melody that progresses into a full-blown anime-ish rock music, even though I'm not a fan of Rin's tuning so much. But the PV is wonderful.

19. Sasameku (Hatsune Miku) - Siinamota
- I'm wondering about the blurb in this video, but anyway. This is an electropop song, with really strong electrobeat and redundant tunes.

20. Hidoor Utopia (Hatsune Miku) - SeiretsuP
- ↑22

21. Ball Catch☆Kawashima! (Hatsune Miku) - Caffein
- FFFF This is a parody dedicated to Japan's soccer team player Kawashima, in line with the recent games.

22. Horobiru no Kagi to Komoriuta (KAITO x Iroha) - ShigotoshiteP
- Title translates to "Key of Destruction and Lullabies". My first reaction is W-wow.What an innovative combination. The rest of my reaction was pure awe. The piano was amazing. For some reason, Iroha high but thick voice balances well with KAITO's nasally high voice. Is it because she's tuned a la Meiko? But she doesn't sound like Meiko at all, imo, quite younger actually. (And Shigotoshite's KAITO has improved a lot!)

23. Vista (Hatsune Miku) - Sorairo Club
- The intro reminded me more of whoo than yuxuki but as the song progresses, it evolves into typical yuxuki-ppoi melody with pure softness and gentleness, even with Miku's tuning. I'm surprised that Miku's tuned so low! But she doesn't sound bad at all.

24. Marie-Luise (Lily) - seleP
- ↑30

25. Burial At the Sea (Hatsune Miku) - ←P
- This is a beautiful ballad starting with Miku's whispery intro and slowly evolving into a haunting lullabye-like melody. The chorus then rises into a guitar and drum-enriched power tune, and slowly goes back to the soft lull. A wonderful combination.

26. Karakuri 卍 Burst (Kagamine Rin and Len) - HitoshizukuP and やま△
- ↓18

27. Juu Mensou (GUMI) - YM
- ↓20 Title translates to "Ten Faces".

28. Lovelessxxx (VanaN'Ice) - natsuP
- ↓07 The PV is so pretty.

29. Yowamushi Montblanc (GUMI) - DECO*27
- ↵33

30. Risky Game (Hatsune Miku) - KurousaP
- ↓25

pickup
Gojouhan (Hatsune Miku) - Happaku x Dechi
kyrie eleison (Hatsune Miku) - Calvitarou

history
1. Kuso Game Jikkyou Play (Hatsune Miku) - OnyuuP
2. Futari no Niji (Hatsune Miku) - arata
3. Soubo Uta (Kagamine Rin/Len) - mayuko
4. Albino (Hatsune Miku) - buzzG
5. MEGANE (Megurine Luka) - Ultra-Noob
