Weekly Utattemita Ranking #111 (December 13-20, 2010)

This week is a bit late due to some problems with Nico Nico Douga's encoding system. Anyway, this week will have a lot of old faces rising up due to 1) a newly released album, 2) someone being just plain popular, and 3) the new number 1. While there is a lot of movement in the ranks by the old songs, there are also a ton of new songs to enjoy. Overall, this is a really good ranking with very interesting twists (LOL Glutam(ry ) so please do read on.

o2. 「一番の宝物」を歌ってみました【グリリ】

• I don't watch Angel Beats so I don't know this song, but is this ballad supposed to be sung this strongly? I keep having the feeling that Guriri could've toned down the chorus and sound awesome like she did in the stanzas, because she sounds so strained in the high parts. Nevertheless, she undeniably has a great voice, managing to carry the song well despite having only the guitar as accompaniment.

• This is an original song and is also under Nico Nico Indies. I haven't heard from Chibita in a while and she sounds amazing! Her voice has become gentler and more versatile. The song itself is a nice ballad, as expected of Sorairo Club.

• I love this cover so much! He sounds a bit too high-strung at the first part, but he naturally flowed with the rock melody properly. This is probably one of my favorite male covers for this (alongside Keysuke's).

• Kano's voice is as cute and gentle as always. But I prefer this song to be sung with a richer/deeper voice because the guitars and bass melody is a bit heavy. But I guess she pulled it off.

• Title translates to "Eternal Fireworks". Gah, I have a thing for XiexieP songs and this is one of my favorites. Maro's voice surprisingly fit the song, despite being deep and rough. He sounds awesome here.

• Kettaro's first solo upload after his scandal, there are still some annoying comments in the video, but we tend to ignore that now. The song itself is very pretty and showcases Marasy's wonderful piano music, and Kettaro's smooth dramatic singing enhanced it even more. I think I've grown to like his ballads more ever since I've heard his version of Little Traveler.

It's the old scandal (locked post) back in September, but since then Kettaro had not uploaded anything, save for his recent cover of WED with Mi-chan and then this. While he's in namahousou and live events, I think he effectively went on a hiatus from uploading covers.
