Since I've featured all the other members of s10rw (which you might remember includes yuxuki/sorairo club, whoo, ryuryu), I might as well introduce the remaining member of the group :).

Monaca's P name (10-dayP) originated from the number of days he took to learn the basics of Vocaloid/music-making, composing the song, setting the lyrics and uploading his maiden work ^^;. He's the final member of s10rw, which is a group of Vocaloid producers centered on technopop, electronica, and other similar music styles.

Like with the rest of the group, Monaca is not a chronic uploader in Nico Nico Douga, having only produced a handful of songs even though he started his Vocaloid career in 2008 with Nijiiro. However, he has participated in more than 10 CDs/compilations including EXIT TUNES Presents GUMIism, which will be released soon.

Monaca's style is very different from his co-members. His music is described as technopop, electronica and shoegaze, although I'm more inclined to think that instead of shoegaze, his music leans more towards post-rock with chiptune and ambient (almost like ryuryu) inspirations. He also does wonderful piano and guitar ballads. Distinct characteristics of his upbeat music include simple but repetitive electronic beats reminiscent of early Vocaloid works (kz, azuma, etc.). His ballads almost always have piano music laced with subtle electronic beats which gives off an ambient/trance-like appeal. Aside from that, he also uses orchestraic effects.

Monaca uses Hatsune Miku (append and not) in almost all of his works, although recently, he has started using GUMI, too. In this part, he's also unique from his co-members because instead of giving Miku a breathy, gentle voices, he tunes her sharp and ringing. His GUMI is also crisp and edgy.

Shuukyokusei to Ao no Oto (Miku)
Genshoku no Refrain (Miku Append)
AQUA (Miku Append)
SPACE SHIP (Miku)
Rosetta (GUMI)

I discovered monaca:factory after he released Genshoku no Refrain, but I never got to listen to all of his works until I saw him collaborating as part of s10rw. What's interesting about his works is that he never settles on a single music style. His list has a ballad, a couple of rock songs, a lot of pop songs and earlier chiptune-like works. His experimenting usually yield hits like Rosetta. If you haven't listened/bought his works, his album "Kasei no Yureru Mizu Koe" is a good way to start because it showcased the genres he is good at: post-rock, ambient-cum-piano-ballad, and technopop.

I think, for the utaite spotlight, I'll feature someone related to these people as sort of closure to the discussion about their circle :).

This guy's music is really unique. I've only listened to Kasei no Yureru Mizu Koe but it's quite a nice album. Rosetta is such a good song...
