Weekly Vocaloid Ranking # 208 (September 19-26, 2011)

Apologies again for a post with lame comments. Anyway, Senbonzakura is in full bloom as it rises to the top, but there are also a loooot of new songs this week from people you already know and love so be sure to check them out! Some of them includes a new brainwash song (not again D: ), some GUMI V3 initial songs and a lot of hard rock stuff.

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

original nicovideo link

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. Senbonzakura (Hatsune Miku) - KurousaP
- ↑03 title means "A Thousand Cherry Blossoms".

02. Odeko ni Haeta Biwa no Seikaku ga Warui (VY2) - UramanbouP
- title means "The Loquat Growing Out of My Forehead has a Bad Personality". It's...well, random just like all of UramanbouP's songs. But VY2 is so cool and the PV is so interesting and worth the watch XD;.

03. Datte Datte Datte (GUMI) - TakanonP
- title means "But, but, but!" GAHHHH. TakanonP's songs are always so cute and straightfoward ;;. The melody reminds me of old L'arc~en~Ciel songs, LOL. If you're interested, I wrote a writeup about him just recently!

04. Waltz of Anomalies (Hatsune Miku) - Nanou/HoehoeP
- The song is part of Nanou's BALLOOM release of the same title (released 09.28!). I really love the orgel intro as well as the gradual change in rhythm and instruments. It's a bit fiercer than most of the popular HoehoeP stuff, but it's a good listen nevertheless.

05. 8hit (Kagamine Rin x Len) - Wonderful Opportunity
- I read the title as "Shit" first, SOBS. However, this is far from a shitty song! It is actually very catchy, like a game tune, with Wanopo's usual strong Rin and Len voices. Actually, it's reminiscent of Rimokon XD.

06. Dystopia Zipangu (GUMI) - cosMo/BousouP
- - ↓02 Title means "Dystopian Japan".

07. Yakusoku no Tane (GUMI) - 40mP
- ↓01 Title means "Seed of Promise".

08. Toluene (Megurine Luka) - OwataP
- Toluene is an aromatic hydrocarbon and is often used as a solvent. Coincidentally (or not XD), it is also a derivative of benzene. Get the connection? Yes, this is another one of OwataP's brainwash songs, as you might notice the fast-forwarded previous benzene songs in the intro. Like the other brainwash songs, this starts off slow then accelerates in rhythm, but this time it's classier and gentler, if I might say. Now everyone, stop murmuring toluene in your sleep :P.

09. Houshaseibusshitsu ga Kowai kara Fukushima wo Sabetsu Suru Kedo Ganbarou Nihon (Hatsune Miku) - HobonichiP
- title means "The Radioactive Materials are Scary and Fukushima's Being Isolated But Do Your Best, Japan!". You should already know what the song is about XD.

10. Ikasama Dice (Hatsune Miku) - Nekomushi
- KEEP. Title means "Trick Dice".

11. CLOSE*2 (Kagamine Rin) - kagomeP
- This song is composed by KagomeP but the tuning is by Sezu. This song is a bit eccentric and special...like all of KagomeP's works XD;. It's pop and rock and something in between with scratchy Rin in vocals. Pretty interesting.

12. Tokyo Teddy Bear (Kagamine Rin) - Neru
- KEEP

13. SwallowS (Hatsune Miku) - YuniP
- The title is a palindrome, so you might notice the video name also used Miku's name as a palindrome. At the start YuniP tuned Miku low and a bit scratchy, but somehow she still sounds charming against the gentle piano music. However, the song quickly evolved into a rich ballad and Miku, too, became softer and gentler to fit the mood. The whispers and the sound effects are so pretty.

14. Hybrid (Lily) - niki
- This song differs from most of niki's works because it sounds less emo, more strong. niki's tuning is wonderful as usual, for Lily sounds always so emotional against the rockish song.

15. Ame ga Futte (GUMI Sweet) - Rerulili
- title means "Rain is Falling". This is part of Rerulili's GUMI V3 release series, which are all awesome, by the way. This starts off as a simple pop song slowly turning into a jazz chorus with sax and skippy drums. This is my favorite among his releases this week :3.

16. Kyousou Hypnosis (GUMI Power) - Rerulili
- title means "Hypnotic Mania". Again, this is part of Rerutan's GUMI V3 releases and each of them are amazingly beautiful. This one is a jazz rock song with awesome bass.

17. Souvenir (Hatsune Miku) - FayeP
- Didn't expect such a cute ballad from FayeP but here it is: a piano ballad with a nostalgic feel, with high-pitched Miku singing her heart out in a solid voice.

18. Gravity (Hatsune Miku x GUMI) - Polyphonic Branch
- As usual, PB starts off his song in a grand way, with an orchestraic intro before eventually evolving into a bouncy rock song. His Miku is still kinda shaky, but his GUMI's pretty good.

19. Kaguya (Hatsune Miku Append) - Ran
- Okay, this is so pretty. This is a folk song with Celtic inspiration with a lovely PV and tuning. I can't stop watching it;;

20. Koushino Shinzou (GUMI) - NishizawasanP
- ↓04

21. Kimi to Sekai ni Okuru Uta (GUMI) - UzP
- title means "A Song of You and I at the Edge of the World". Typical Yuuji song with a slightly emotional beat (and beautiful drumming. just.). GUMI sounds high and softened and really pretty.

22. Black Out The Alternative (Hatsune Miku) - Kotori
- The intro's kinda awesome D: It's like a suspenseful hard rock song that reminds me of a cross between Machigerita and Yuyoyuppe. The guitar work is just *_____*. Even the tuning, while a bit distorted, fits the song so well. Definitely one of my surprising faves from this ranking.

23. Hello, Worker (Megurine Luka) - Eshi ja nai KEI
- ↓09

24. Cyber Thunder Cider (VY1) - EZFG
- ↓11

25. Gizen Seigi (Hatsune Miku) - Maki
- Title means "Hyprocrite Justice" but according to the video, it's "Nostalgia for Nothingness". It's a snappy rock track with impressive guitar works and a lovely Miku tuning. The tuning reminds me of keeno.

26. Can you feel the purple truth? (Megurine Luka) - collab
- ↓14 This is a collaboration among Yuyoyuppe, Don and MuryokuP.

27. CRAZY (Hatsune Miku) - Yamaguchi Tarou
- ↓23

28. Party Time (Hatsune Miku) - Sig
- It has a pretty unexpected intro for the title, and the music suddenly bursts out in a pretty mess before eventually uncovering a pretty powerful rock song. Pretty good, but it's a bit too shrill for my taste.

29. Kuwagata ni Chop-shitara Time Slip-shita (GUMI) - UramanbouP
- Title means "When I Chopped the Stag Beetle, There was a Time Slip".

30. Kyarirenren - Ponponpon full ver. (Kagamine Len) - GigaP x Orebanana
- ↓20

PICKUP:
Kimi he (GUMI) - RetasuP
- title means "To You".

ED:
Panorama Parasol (GUMI) - kanaki x saculy

1. Yay for the rise ^w^

2/29. Ahaha, expected the rise in the Kuwagata song... The little girl in the Kuwagata song made a cameo in the Biwa song! And I really like VY2...

3. Takanon's cutesy pop songs aren't really my cup of tea, but I still LOVE his tuning so much TAT I know it helps that GUMI is a relatively realistic Vocaloid, but she always sounds so good in Takanon's songs...

9. It's sweet to lift people's spirits up. It's been awhile, but things won't be normal for a long, long time.

Might catch a few other songs, but I really haven't had much time.
