Xiao/シャオ

Xiao is a male singer who started uploading his works in Nico Nico Douga as early as 2008. He has quite a collection of songs now, which are varied in popularity. Sometimes, he gets views at a few thousand while in other times, he gets as high as 50,000.
You might often see Xiao's name in rankings and he uploads songs regularly (at least once a month). However, he's not as popular as other male singers with similar voice ranges. Most people consider him as "RL Kaito's voice" because he mostly prefers singing Kaito songs and sings them well. When you listen to him sing, especially in Cantarella, he really sounds similar to Kaito :). He has quite a range: he can reach high notes like in Sennen no Dokusou ka and provide very low bass voice accompaniment to himself in most of his songs.
Xiao might not sound as spectacular or as charistmatic as other male singers, but he has his own unique ways of singing that attract listeners. First, he doesn't sing with too much stylistics or adlibs. Second, he provides bass accompaniment and second voice to his own songs, which are always interesting. Take for example Bad Apple!!, where he has this super low bass vocals in the background. Even though his main singing style is simple, the backup vocals and different approaches to providing an "identity" to his covers makes listening to Xiao a pleasure.

Xiao is one of my favorite male utaite even if he's not as popular as others. I love his Kaito renditions because they do not sound overdone (aside from the backup lolol). I like most of his songs to it's hard to choose a favorite, but I chose his covers of Stardust Utopia, Paradichlorobenzene, Bad Apple!! and Harvest. Right now, my most favorite from him would be his Tsukiyuki Hana. The original song was really amazing, but Xiao singing it is even more breath-taking.
