For today's utaite Friday, let's choose someone popular but often overlooked :).
Asamaru/あさまる

I'm sure a lot of people has heard of Asamaru, especially if they are fans of Jack, Tourai, Luschka Choucho, etc. You might also know him as the guy who had the magnet duet with Jack. He is the "head" of the Asamakku family which includes Tourai, Choucho, Keisen, Erusi and Hiradon (and sometimes Faneru). He is mostly known as a mixer/encoder of the songs the members of the family sing since 2008. It is because of him that Jack's and Choucho's songs are wonderfully uploaded XD. Before there was Asamakku, however, Asamaru was an active singer (2007). He covered songs from Vocaloid, by Bump of Chicken, etc.
Asamaru's voice is low and husky, although he can reach high tunes when needed (cough RoshinYuukai cough) and can even do screamo in his early utaite days. Even though he has a slightly rough voice, he can sing ballads and fast songs pretty well and his diction is actually good. I don't think there is a genre that fits his voice -- he just sings them all well: jazz tunes, alternative rock, pop, cutesy, etc. although he prefers fast love songs for some reason. Most of the time, he'sforced coerced pressured into singing songs he usually doesn't sing (Under the Darkness, Boku Mote, etc.). I heard he was also embarrassed to sing magnet with the breathing sound LOL. But that's okay because 1) he carries them well and 2) he pressures other people to do the same :3.
He (and the Asamakku family) has a lot of fans in Japan and overseas probably due to their nightly namahousou (usually he, Jack and Tourai) which involves the most random things: fanart spazzing, tetris, Monster Hunter, cooking, etc. He is often depicted as a cat (and Jack as a dog, Choucho as a butterfly and Tourai as a duck) in fanart. He likes collecting masks, playing Monster Hunter, playing the guitar and eating takoyaki. He's also part of PUPI's 0.5 enhance CD, along with Dasoku, Clear, Miichan and amu.

I've learned of Asamaru when I became a Jack fan and followed his namahousou. My first impression of Asamaru was bit twisted, because I first saw him wearing a lion mask LOL. But he sounds really nice and timid and eager to please, plus he has the most interesting embarrassed reaction ever XD;. His singing is not as stellar as Jack's or Tourai's but I like most of his recent songs because they don't sound overly careful (in terms of pitches) or overdone. Eventually, I think I've become more of an Asamaru fan than Jack's ^^;. My favorite covers by him would be Kimi no Taion, Shounen Ginga, Bad Apple!! and Under the Darkness (uploaded to the comm).
