Ofurotaimu Will Be One Year Old!

A rare mod post this time :)

I'm sure none of you knows, but this July 30, 2010, ofurotaimu will be celebrating its first year anniversary! Thank you to everyone who have read and joined and commented in one whole year of being a community. As a sort of celebration, I've made a few plans and changes in the community.

• There will be some locked posts. I said before that this community will be unlocked 95% of the time. However, controversial stuff are and will always be locked to the community so we don't get trolled/flamed. I know some people not from Dreamwidth will not be able to see the very few locked posts. Most of the locked stuff are nothing big, but if you want to read them there are ways to go around that:

1. Use your OPENID. If you're from LJ, Blogspot, Wordpress, etc., you can use your openID to join ofurotaimu and gain access to the very few locked posts.
2. Get a DREAMWIDTH ACCOUNT. If you're interested in joining DW, you can just make an account. With it, you can join more communities and post in your own blog, right? I have a few codes to spare so if you're serious with joining DW, just tell me :).

Remember to join the comm to see locked posts.

• Posting is open to members again. If you are a member, you can post your news, questions, or anything that you want to share to the community (except spotlights). Just remember to please read the rules and make sure you have locked or formatted your post according to them. If you don't know how to tag, leave the tagging to me :).

• Since July is our anniversary month, I wanted to do more spotlights of producers and singers alike, but I don't have a lot of time to do that. So, I'm accepting donations contributions for both spotlights :). If you want to post a spotlight about a certain singer/producer, send me the post! In order to keep the format of the posts uniform, as well as to be fair to those without accounts for posting, please submit the spotlight post to me via PM (here) or email (fascinais at gmail).

What to write in a spotlight post:
- name of the singer/producer
- sites (mylist, piapro, blog)
- short and sweet intro! how you found him/her, disctint qualities
- sample songs (at least 5, if mylist has more than 5 uploads!)
- your thoughts on yaoi and additional comments
(please be as objective as you can, since we're archiving this!)

I'll edit the post a little, add my own comments after your own and then post it! We now have an official spotlight of your chosen producer/singer in the comm ;). Of course I will write your name as the contributor so please include your name/website when you do submit! Also, please choose someone obscure if you can, since our purpose here is to know more about less popular people. If there are many contributions, I can make multiple spotlight posts each week = fun for us :).

• I actually do not have any other plans for the anniversary YET. I'm still thinking, but I welcome any posts for the celebration (a list of all your favorite Luka songs? a Vocarock compilation post? a list of your favorite Rolling Girl covers XD?). Anything that is about utattemita/Vocaloid will do. Please do post and I'm tagging them under the first anniv tag. If you do not have an account but would like to contribute like in the spotlight, you can email me the entry and I will post it for you.

I'm welcoming other suggestions (hey, it's going to be one whole month XD). So if you have any ideas or if you want to see something in this comm for the celebration, please tell me in the comments. I appreciate any idea that you have :).

Utaite Friday : Yoru

I see people have joined using their open ids. Thank you very much! Anyway, more updates later since I have to prepare for class tomorrow. In the meantime...here's our utaite spotlight.


Yoru

Yoru a lesser known singer with a flexible, versatile voice. She has a powerful, low and husky voice similar to Yamai's. Because of her voice quality, she has very good jazzy covers. But she doesn't limit herself to jazzy songs. She has quite a list of covers, from popular Vocaloid songs (Melt, Black Rock Shooter, Roshin Yuukai) to less known ones. Some of the songs do not fit her voice to a T, but she still sounds good despite that.

One thing that I admire about Yoru is how she manages to change quickly from low to high pitch and vice-versa. This is why she sounds best in songs which are difficult to sing because of often fluctuating pitches despite starting low (Blindness, Just a Game, etc.). She also sings clearly and rarely sounds mumbling even though the lines are sung fast.

There are some songs sung by Yoru which I cannot listen to when covered by other people because I have set her as the ideal XD. Like Kami no Namae ni Ochiru Mono and Blindness (don't get me wrong. F9's Blindness is amazing, but it's just not my type of style). I usually like singers with lower voices but has good range compared to those with super high, shrilly voices, so Yoru has grown to be one of my favorites.
