Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #144 (June 28 - July 05, 2010)

While I posted the Weekly Utaran late, I'm posting this a little early, since I cannot be online for long hours. I am really sorry about this. Anyway, this week's ranking is a lot more coherent compared to the previous, although there are still some stray old stuff returning here and there. Wowaka's bandwagon trinity is also back XD;. But don't worry, there are a lot of lovely songs uploaded this week, plus GUMI's redeemed from last week's confusion.

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. Wonderland to Shitsuji no Uta (Hatsune Miku) - hachi
- Not very surprising that this is the number one. Hachi has a cheerful melody here with stray flute sounds combined with perfectly tuned Miku. The PV is also interesting, with smooth animation and colorful hues compared to his previous PVs. The theme is still a bit eerie, though, as usual of hachi.

02. glow (Hatsune Miku) - keeno
- I've seen this RT'd hundreds of times by producers, utaite and fans. It is a gentle Miku ballad with a soft-spoken Miku Append with very, very light guitars. Its aura fits the song title well.

03. Kuuchuu Aquarium (Hatsune Miku) - 40mP
- A very 40mP-ish song, if you can recognize the pattern, which means it's amazing. I like 40mP's beats, not so hard on the ears but not so gentle that the Vocaloid covers them up.

04. Mask of Hannya (Kagamine Rin and Len) - HikutsuP (koushirou)
- I'm sorry, but everytime I hear this, I remember Rurouni Kenshin XD. The Hannya there is stuck in my head for scary personal reasons. This is a good song with a traditional feel, by the way. The chanting fits Len's and Rin's voice so well.

05. Houkai Utahime - disrupted diva- (Hatsune Miku) - MachigeritaP
- Another returner, probably related to Project Diva.

06. Pierrot (Hatsune Miku) - Eshi ja nai KEI
- A nice ballad with leveled but dominant guitars.

07. Akahito ha (Megurine Luka) - KurousaP
- ↵142 More returners from a long time ago, pulled up because of either Project Diva or some evil master plan. This one is one of my favorite Kurousa works.

08. Hankou Seimei (GUMI) - YM
- More GUMI releases in the ranking that last week, which was her birthday week XD;.

09. Bara wa Utsukushiku Chiru (Hatsune Miku) - Udongerge
- ↵151

10. Hikyou Sentai Urotander (KAITO, MEIKO, Miku...) - ShinP
- ↵80 Okay...this is reallya surprise XD. Could it be Project Diva's fault, too? But then again, last week's ranking was more messed up that this week's...

11. World's End Dancehall (Hatsune Miku x Megurine Luka) - wowaka
- ↓04

12. Pentab to Kenban (Kagamine Rin) - WorldwideP

13. OZ (Hatsune Miku) - PinocchioP
- Very nice Miku tuning, but the guitars seem to be a messy blur to me at some point.

14. Lonely Girl (Hatsune Miku) - riyonoa

15. Mou Ichido, Boku he (Hatsune Miku) - baker
- Long time no see, baker! I love his ballads a lot, and this one doesn't disappoint. Still gentle and poignant.

16. Yakimushi Ensemble (GUMI) - TOKOTOKO/NishizawasanP
- ↓11

17. Sakana (Hatsune Miku) - kous
- Another work by kous which I stare at, although this time, the music is much more tangible than his previous works. The telltale beat is still there. The art is also less eccentric, although it still looks interesting.

18. Dearest (GUMI) - yukiss
- ↓09

19. Gallows Bell (Hatsune Miku) - buzzG
↓01-

20. Eh? Aa, Sou (Hatsune Miku) - papiyon
- ↓06

21. Rolling Girl (Hatsune Miku) - wowaka
- ↵33 Okaeri.

22. melting summer (GUMI) - tokuP
- This was uploaded late so I wasn't able to include it in my GUMI writeup, but this is the usual cheery TokuP song that is loopable. The only difference is that this sounds toned down because of GUMI's gentler voice compared to Miku's.

23. Floriography -Wasurenagusa- (MEIKO) - ShigotoshiteP
- Very, very lovely MEIKO song!

24. Sayonara Polaris (GUMI) - Nem
- Finally, this enters the ranking after being last week's pickup.

25. Aoi Bara no Sougiya (KAITO, Kagamine Rin and Len) - mayuko
- Quite a nice song that gives off an eerie feel. Len and Rin sounds a little too high in some parts but it's ok.

26. Hello (Hatsune Miku) - G3
- ↓22 This is actually a cover of a song bycapsule.

27. Ura Omote Lovers (Hatsune Miku) - wowaka
- ↵40

28. Melt (Hatsune Miku) - supercell/ryo
- ↵43 Could it be Project Diva's fault or just a normal return?

29. Yowamushi Montblanc (GUMI) - DECO*27
- ↑30

30. XXX me in the disco (Megurine Luka) - aRth
- A returnee? This is an old song uploaded sometime in November.

YES, UROTANDER!! I don't care whatever the reason this got pulled up, but I'm HAPPY!!

Hachi's new song is just... WOW, it looks pro level.

Is Keeno a new face? Because I've never saw him before. That song is awesome too.

I'm surprised to see Houkai Utahime... I was expecting his newest song, but then again he upload it a bit too late (it ended in 35 tho >_>, kind of doubt it'll get ranked next week)... And really sad Candy Addicts Full Course dropped pretty far, this guy's works never stayed long.

Oh, Houkai Utahime got pulled up probably because of the upcoming Project Diva Arcade album and Aka Hitoha is maybe because because of Project Diva DLC. Melt is also PD's fault...

I see WED has finally dropped from the top ten.

Bara wa Utsukushiku Chiru got back because of... Pure trolls?

Uh, feel no need to do this, but...

Could you name your favorite vocaloid songs for each week like you did a few weeks back? I listen to all the songs you like in the Utaran, but I have trouble doing that with Vocaloids. And it's hard to tell from your comments which songs you think are nice and which songs you strongly recommend.

The only song I was sure you recommended was Floriography (and I quote, "Very, very lovely MEIKO song!"). I listened to it. It was good. I downloaded it. I prefer nicomimi to nicosound because it has pictures. I'm getting off track.

Seriously, though, no pressure. I'm just lazy, so I'm trying to push all the effort onto you.

It's a rhythm game based on Vocaloid (err, Crypton Vocaloid to be exact) produced by SEGA.
