Weekly Utattemita Ranking #120 (Feb. 14-21, 2011)

We have a weak week for this ranking, with very few covers from people we know. Buuuut that means there's a lot of opportunity to know lesser known singers who sound equally amazing. You might see a lot of unfamiliar names in the lower parts, but the top parts are definitely dominated by people you see A LOT in the ranking XD;. And yes, there are more Panda Heroes.

Please do not mind my half-asleep comments. I'm tired from running around all day and my boss deprived me of a delicious Korean beef stew lunch. Yes, I am bearing a grudge because of that. Anyway, let's go to the ranking w/ my lame comments ^^;.

I'm expecting this and his Matryoshka to remain for a bit in the rankings again ^^;. ...And I can't count how many times I've written "she" in this number OTL.

For me it was actually that I didn't start liking his voice until he sang When I Come Home My Wife Is Always Dead (is that right? I can't remember ^^'). Then his voice began growing on me. :P

And I just learned that Korosuke had Saki Fujita do the chorus of her Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru, which ngl, still has me pretty surprised.

YUKI's singing is actually pretty good. She reminds me of MISAKI. The English comments...well, they're almost always KY/harsh so I tend to pass over them.

oh hai there renai circulations there. miss those kinds of songs so much (anisong parodies IN MASSES). it's somehow ironic that lon's ochame kinou, tenchou's matryoshka and glutamine's only my railgun are in the Top 30 (and ranked higher again) and Limone's RC not.

btw, at #10 new upload ranking, the enka song Beeeeige sings is Umiyuki by Jero.

I wanted Mi-chan's to stay a bit longer but even I agree that it's not his best cover :(. Tenchou actually did it better (but I like Mi-chan's Matryoshka more XD)

Yeah, same, but dropping from 2 is really steep. I also like Mi-chan's Matroysha better than Tenchou's :3 I'm still undecided on Panda Hero in general since there are a gazillion covers I haven't listened. But I do like Tenchou's more than Mi-chan's.

Concerning about Soraru's Aimai Elegy cover:

It is true that DECO*27 asked people not to cover the song, thus the reason why he never put out an instrumental like he usually does for most of his recent songs.

But when the cover first came out, Soraru did write in the explanation box that he did get special permission from DECO*27 about arranging and covering the song, along with getting permission from akka and mirito (who did the PV for the original) as well to use the characters and such for his PV.

Whether this is true or not, I can't be sure. I don't usually stalk follow Soraru or DECO*27 on twitter like I do for certain other singers, so I can't say I'm 100% certain about this...

Thank you for the comment! I don't follow either in Twitter too, but from what I read, it's as you said. That's why I said if there's a will, there's a way XD. Soraru had asked permission for this specific cover. If he didn't, his video would be flamed badly :((.
