Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #138 (May 17-24, 2010)

Another predictable ranking this week (especially with the top 3 for me), but there are a lot of good songs this week. There is also quite a lot of Luka, which is a nice surprise. And a Kaito! There are still a lot of Miku songs, especially since there's Append, but compared to previous rankings this week's is a little balanced in terms of Vocaloids used.

↑# - the song moved up from a previous top 30 rank
↓# - song moved down from a previous top 30 rank
- song is a re-entry to the top 30 rankings

Songs are arranged from 1-30.

01. World's End Dancehall (Hatsune Miku) - wowaka
- Another epic release from wowaka. It already has almost 500,000 views. It's your typical wowaka technique, in my opinion. The intro was a bit hard on the ears, especially if you're like me who plays music in full blast without checking. Miku here sounds better than in Ura Omote Lovers though. It's a good song, sans the screeches, really. It is also an easy number 1 this week, who didn't see it coming? ^^;

02. Lobelia (Hatsune Miku) - sequel
- The intro of this song is pretty cool, light tunes with liquid visuals before ascending to an alternative rock beat with a colorful MV. Miku sounds a little bland for the song at first, but eventually, you get used to the arrangement.

03. Genesis (Megurine Luka & Hatsune Miku) - Jimmythumb
- Before anything else, happy birthday, Jimmythumbs (052510), I didn't know you have the same birthday as Anima XD;. Anyway, I've always liked Jimmythumb's ballads and while I think Genesis will take a while before it grows on me, it's simple and classy and is in the ranks for From Y to Y and Starduster.

04. Ladies First (Megurine Luka & Hatsune Miku) - OSTER PROJECT
- A typical upbeat song from Fuwacina, I like the jazzy beats. The PV is so adorable I can't stop watching it. Luka and Miku's blending are also clean and nicely blending. Oh, and this also has Sweet Ann in the chorus? Wow.

05. Happy Very Happy (Hatsune Miku) - PinocchioP
- It's a good upbeat song, although I feel that it's not happy enough to fit the title. Anyway, PinocchioP's Miku is well-tuned and solid. The changes in pitch at the middle amused me.

06. Marygold (GUMI) - buzzG
- It's funny how buzzG comes with a new song after I just spotlighted him a couple of weeks ago XD;. As expected from the rock!GUMI expert, this slow rock song is awesome, starting off a bit quiet and slow until GUMI's voice rings at the chorus. Art was done by yunomi, which also makes the MV special.

07. Flightless Bird (Megurine Luka) - MuryokuP
- ↓#01

08. Ikutsu mono yoru wo koete (Hatsune Miku) - Rerulili
- Another "supreme ballad" from Rerulili after his first ballad masterpiece Itsumo Yori Nakimushi na Sora. The piano melody is amazing;;. As usual, Miku's well-tuned voice has a nice ring. I prefer Itsumo, but this is still one of the best ballads I've heard.

09. Kakure Oni (Megurine Luka) - OtomeP (?)
- I actually don't know if I got the P name right. But I like the song! It's a traditional song laced with rock beats, stuff that I dig. Luka sounds decent, too.

10. Melodramatic (Megurine Luka) - fatmanP
- fatmanP's Luka always sounds so nice. I do not like this song as much as Haru Koi Uta because of the techno beats (they just don't sit well in my ears, I think), but Luka really sounds good here. Art was done by FullkawaP (it's pretty!).

11. Wanwan-o, Nyannyan-o (Hatsune Miku) - NekomushiP
- ↑11 Wow!

12. Yume Kakeuta (KAITO + P) - IntroP
- The first thing I noticed is that the art is pretty and apparently, instead of the art being made for the song, the song was made as a tribute to the art. Kaito is surprisingly smooth-sounding despite the change in pitches. The chorus is lovely with the fast beats and gentle piano music.

13. Yowamushi Montblanc (GUMI) - Deco*27
- ↓05

14. Kudryavka (Kagamine Rin) - Pianissimo
- ↑29

15. Rolling Girl (Hatsune Miku) - wowaka
- ↓13

16. Just Be Friends (Megurine Luka) - Dixie Flatline
- ↑18

17. Ura Omote Lovers (Hatsune Miku) - wowaka
- ↑23 Because of wowaka's new masterpiece, his two more popular works are also pulled up.

18. love game (Hatsune Miku) - taaP
- An old song back in the ranking? This is one of those chiptune x Vocaloid creations uploaded recently. It sounds decent, although I've never been a fan of chiptune music.

19. Rasen na Watashi (Hatsune Miku) - NiR-Gerda
- A song that didn't make it to the rankings last week. Sounds like piano jazz and Miku Append is amazing as always. It's a simple and direct song, not much effects in it, which makes it pretty.

20. ARiA (Hatsune Miku) - TokuP
- ↓11

21. Gogatsu Shoujo (Hatsune Miku) - millstones
- ↓12

22. Yubikiri (Hatsune Miku) - scop
- ↓09

23. a balance (Megurine Luka) - MuryokuP
- ↓08

24. 1925 (Hatsune Miku) - T-Pocket
- ↑30

25. Melancholic (Kagamine Rin) - Junky
- ↓17

26. daybreak -append of new world- (Hatsune Miku) - comcom
- Third work by comcom, also known as harmonyP. The beat is gentle, but it resounds. Miku still sounds a bit shaky despite the fact that it's an append version.

27. Itsuwari no Kajitsu 90% (Hatsune Miku) - Soda Lady
- It seems like it's a first work? The music is typical upbeat pop we used to hear. Miku sounds shaky but otherwise, it's a good first upload.

28. Outro (Hatsune Miku) - ZudodonP
- This is a rather eccentric piece of work, I mean that in a good way of course. Somehow I'm reminded of hachi's style.

29. Eh? Ah, sou. (Hatsune Miku) - papiyon
- papiyon's sexy song re-enters the ranking, probably thanks for Miichan and Shamuon and REN.

30. 7banme no Boku (Kagamine Len) - mayuko
- ↓07

Pickup
Detarame na Uta (Kagamine Rin) - Gicchon no Hito
Suki to Kisu (MIKI) - KyandeiP

My favorites this week will have to be Genesis, Ladies First, Marygold, Rasen na Watashi and Yume Kakeuta.
