Monthly Nico Nico Indies Ranking - August 2011

You might remember that I did a sort of intro post (plus a previous ranking writeup) for Nico Nico Indies Ranking. This is the ranking for this month. As I said, NNI is much more slow-moving compared to utattemita and Vocaloid, so you might still encounter songs here which appeared in the previous ranking. Nico Nico Monthly Indies Ranking - July 2011

Since I dropped the monthly Vocaloid ranking, I decided to replace it this time with the Monthly Nico Nico Indies Ranking.

Nico Nico Indies is a small part of the Nico Nico Douga site where people post their original works. The concept that is different from Vocaloid/Utattemita/Ensoushitemita is that the works here are all original and are usually instrumental or sung by people. Of course, while there are many unfamiliar names here, there are VocaloidPs and utaites that participate in this area, too, especially when they collaborate to sing original songs. Oftentimes, original songs from NNI appear also in utattemita, so you might recognize some of them. NNI is also a very slow-moving category, so there are only a few views/participants than what you might be used to.

I'm glad this ranking is just monthly because gathering information on the artists is a bit difficult, especially since I am also a bit new in this area. Since this writeup is to introduce people to NNI, I tried my best to be as descriptive as possible. If you are a fan of anyone mentioned in this ranking please feel free to chip in other information you can share re: the artist!

Since it has almost the same format, this ranking will be arranged just like the utattemita ranking, minus the colorful letters :). This might be a bit tl;dr than most of my rankings, so please be warned! Also, as I said before, this is a slow-moving category, so you will encounter songs here which you might have already heard months ago :).

Weekly Utattemita Ranking #140 (July 04-11, 2011)

Apologies for being late. I have no Internet at home and I just snuck!wrote this while I'm busy with work. I'll try my best to post Vocaran later or tomorrow, too. I'm sad that I don't get to flail much with the songs since I can't load Nico Nico Douga here at all so please ignore my lack of witty comments. There are a LOT of wonderful new songs this week, particularly in the top ten. There's also a gratuitous amount of crack and parodies. There is also a ton of tapir song covers XD. A couple of singers here in the ranking are more known in the namahousou part of NND and just crossed over here. Hope you enjoy them despite the boring writeup!

Weekly Utattemita Ranking # 129 (April 18-25, 2011)

This week is full of collabs and pairings, so expect to see a lot of them filling the rankings. You might notice last week that there is a slight bandwagoning of Suki Kirai? Well, it's not dying down and you'll even see more of them next week.

Anyway, you might notice that the Weekly Utaran has changed video dimensions (it's clearer and wider now!) as well as frame designs XD. I feel bad for not mentioning last week, but the portions are now of different colors (new uploads is blue, overall ranking is purple, pickup is light blue and history is orange). Utaran-san made great efforts to customize the presentation to everyone's viewing comforts, too, with all the data collected in the sides and properly labeled. Of course, make sure you stare hard at the screen at the rank intervals because Hibiki (if you don't know who Hibiki is...he's the Utaran mascot) appears in the frames, too XD.

So, this ranking is now color-coded. The links have colors specific to the portions so as to avoid confusion. The song names are still clickable, by the way. Please tell me if it looks okay or not. If not, I'll revert to the old format!

Utaite Spotlight: Kogeinu

Nope, I'm not Nikki.. ^^; since Nikki cannot make an entry today, I'll make this opportunity to introduce my favourite Utaite~ Everyone who knows me KNOW that I'm crazy on him.. *cough* My first post of the spotlight so please be kind on me. ^^; I'm sorry I'm a bit late posting this. Had a lot of things to do yesterday. >_<;

KOGEINU / コゲ犬

Kogeinu started his Utattemita debut in the early 2008. His voice sounds like a girl and can do REALLY WELL in a high notes. Most of his songs has a really high pitch which can make people amuse. That's the unique of Kogeinu. His low voice is actually pretty cool too. Unfortunately he rarely sings in a low voice. There are some but not as many as his high voice songs. He often inserts some of jokes in his uploads. He calls himself as a dog and/or DT (Doutei = virgin guy). He's 27 years old this year and he's proud of being a DT. ^^;

Recently he's doing a lot of projects. Some of them are 'seiyuu' projects; Smiley*2, Kiss of Voice, and Do-S Tantei. He hasn't released any album/single yet but he did quite a lot of compilation CDs with the other utaites. Unfortunately he's not as popular as the other male utaites.

He did say he likes L'Arc~en~Ciel and CLAMP's works. He used to sing a lot of Laruku's songs in his namahousou. About CLAMP's works, you can see it from the anime songs that he covered.
I love how he always be proud of his DT-ness. Even in his twitter, his profile is 'The president of the world's DT status committee (Self-claimed)' and how he loves Code Geass' Lelouch and imitated the voice.

This is late (and the rest might be late, too) because of certain difficulties as I have no Internet at home and my work has blocked Nico Nico Douga. I apologize for delays in the future, too, if this kind of fail happens for a long time OTL.

Anyway, a big thanks to

stephieku and the person who uploads the weekly utaran himself (who is so kind, I don't even...), I managed to get the ranking list and just...listened to them one by one instead of the ranking itself. I might miss some comments re: some of the songs, so sorry ;;. Anyway, on to the ranking, which is pretty predictable given the songs released this week :). There are tons of new songs, there wasn't much space for the oldies to cling on :(.
